I read an online Blog: Humans Aren't Meant to be Happy????

Ladybj

Live, Laugh and Love
The post stated our expectations are too high to be happy. I agree to disagree. For me, happiness is an inside job... happiness comes from within no one can MAKE me happy, they can bring happiness in my life. Material things, getting a promotion at work, getting married, buying a new home, etc. will bring a bit of happiness for a moment but it fades. During the difficult times in our life can we say we are happy? I ask myself that question. What are your thoughts??

happiness is choice ' either u wanna be or you dont ' animals are happy 'plants- given the right foods - so we have a choce in our lives which is good karma' as we dont all go round smiling all day long do we lol...….

I would change "happy" to "satisfied". I live alone. I 'm chronic pain. I have to catheterize myself to urinate. I'm not rich. This year I had to get for a new roof, all new windows & doors, plus a new furnace.I have a headache. And a week ago, I was rear ended at a stop light. The party has some dinky insurance company, that's trying to squirm out of paying. Now, am I happy? I dunno. But am I satisfied? On the whole, Yeah.

Kinda feel sorry for that blog writer. I don't have an expectation to be happy I just am. Not all day long everyday just enough good happening to realize my life has been & is enjoyable.

Helen Keller quotes
“When one door of happiness closes, another opens; but often we look so long at the closed door that we do not see the one which has been opened for us.”
― Helen Keller
“The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched. They must be felt with the heart”
― Helen Keller
“Although the world is full of suffering, it is full also of the overcoming of it.”
― Helen Keller
“The most pathetic person in the world is some one who has sight but no vision.”
― Helen Keller
“Be of good cheer. Do not think of today's failures, but of the success that may come tomorrow. You have set yourselves a difficult task, but you will succeed if you persevere; and you will find a joy in overcoming obstacles. Remember, no effort that we make to attain something beautiful is ever lost.”

Happiness seems to be a come and go experience, intertwinned with-in our living and working experiences and situations, so that a summer spent on a farm can be a happy experience. Happiness seems to be inter-woven into our work a day and retirement experiences.

Happy is overrated in this country with most folks relying on materials things to lean on, as said above.....
Agree we are responsible for our own moments, hours, or days of personal gratification in doing or accomplishing what fulfills us or people we like spending time with....
Now deep, long-lasting Joy, to me, never ends i.e., memories of good feelings thinking about the ones we love (and like), our pets whether gone or with us now....
Are we meant to be happy? There's all levels and time frames of catching some happiness either short term or long term, right up there with the other emotions we experience, jmo....

Utter and complete BS. Just because something is on the Internet or a blog, etc. doesn't make it true.
In reality it doesn't take all that much to be happy. The cure is to quit wondering about how the other half lives or comparing your life to others.

This is just my point of view but I think everyone wants to be happy but some don't know how and care not to put in the work. True happiness doesn't come easy. The happiness that come for a moment and fade away does not take much effort and I question, is that happiness or a good feeling you get from a high.. just thinking out loud. Sometime an outside smile can be an inside frown.. been there.

The combined quality of thought and force of thought sent from every mind on Earth determines the level of consciousness throughout the world. YOUR thoughts affect the overall consciousness. Each soul, at each moment, has the choice to feel happiness or give into the despair sent into the atmosphere. Thoughts are true things. "To affect the quality of the day; This is the highest of arts."

In my view it’s a hard world to be happy in, I’m just extremely grateful for the life I have
I agree. My view is happiness is an inside job and it takes a LOT of work. At 60 I can say I am happy. I am grateful for all I have. When faced with challenges, don't get me wrong it can be a bit ROUGH but my happiness has a way of showing up. Deep in my Soul I have Peace, Joy, Love and Happiness which NO ONE can take from me. No one gave it to me, therefore they cannot take it from me. Others has shown me these things but again, for me, it was an inside job.

LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!!!! Bringing a tear to my eye for personal reasons..

Since the birth of my first great grand child six months ago I have experienced many moments that I would describe as happiness for no reason in particular.
Happy? Why? I don't know, but I just am.
I still have the same worries, problems and concerns that I had one year ago but they have all shrunk as my joy and happiness has enlarged.
This new addition to the family has also given me new hope for the future.
I haven't done anything at all. My happiness is a gift and I am very grateful for that gift.

I agree. I thought it was a good topic of discussion. The person that wrote it has a right to her/his opinion..however, I disagree with it but found the article very interesting. I am the type of person that I am pretty open minded.. I welcome other point of views whether I agree or disagree.

That's deep

Yeah, that's deep, alright
Quite the load
Several shovel fulls of ethereal crap
Sorry, Gaer, but that's almost verbatim from a course in philosophy I took in college

Happiness

Many ways to seek it
Hardly occurs that way

It's good to know it when it happens
But those searching for it usually miss it

Happiness is simple
Sometimes fleeting
Comes and goes
Like the wind

Contentment is the en·trée

Happiness is the sweet

something I penned some years ago in response to a young lady;

' .....because I deserve to be happy'

I just read a lengthy paragraph of a young lady seemingly on the edge.
It’s a wonder more of today’s generation isn’t ODing on drugs if they all think this way.....

I don’t preach. Not my place.
But, I’ve been around awhile, and here’s what I know;
Happiness is attained by contentment
Contentment is attained by satisfaction
Satisfaction is attained by hard work...a job well done.

That’s all

Simple as that

There are no epiphanical moments where a fairy poings you with her wand and everthing is all better

There is no deserving

There is earning

Nothing else

I’ve had to learn this the hard way, by default actually.
Never checked my happiness gauge, just looked for fun.
Had fun.
No regrets.
But fun by itself becomes quite empty.
Empty as a cavernous, bottomless ever hungry void.

Want ‘Happy’?

It’s yours

For the earning

I took apart my seventeen year old dryer, this past week. Had to remove the timer, the drum, the motor, the blower. Except for the heater, the unit was stripped down to sheet metal. I replaced the removed parts. I greased the bearings.

Tonight, I washed a load, and put it in the dryer. I advanced the timer, I hit the start switch. I could barely hear the drum rotating, such was the perfection of all parts working together. I was an agent in their coming together to work as a unit, to work in blissful, near-silent harmony.

Happy? You bet your butt I'm happy! Had I had a service tech out, I would have paid about $650 for the repair and parts. As it stands, for my hard work and DIY skills, I dropped about $200. Yeah, I'm doubly happy!

Gary is spot on, in his post, above: You need to work at something, achieve a goal, earn that happiness. Everything concerned with the vibratory essence of the universe, aligning your chakras to the reality of the eternal OM, and other such New Age silliness, is just that: A blissful idiot is still an idiot!

Did that with a washer
Damn near gutted it
After it completed it's last cycle I attempted a cartwheel

OK, I determined I wasn't going into gymnastics in this life...….but, whoa...….after flopping around on the floor for a bit,
I had to jump up and click my heels.....sorta

Glee...is a form of happiness.....probably
