I get on my own nerves sometimes. If something goes through my mind and

I can't remember all of it I will search and search until remember all of it.

Of course I'm not the only one that does this,my sister is exactly the same

I have been driving myself crazy for days now trying to remember the name of a movie I watched years ago. I remember it was a black and white movie.
It was about a woman who was married and had a small child. Her mother-
in-law found out she was always visiting a man in his apartment. She
threatened her Daughter -in-law and the Daughter-in-law left her husband and
child even though she wasn't doing anything wrong.Eventually she started
working with a man who gave children's parties and she saw her husband
and child again.

I don't know why this is so important to me but I am soo crazy I will continue to look ! Are you as crazy as I am ?

I'll join your club !!!! If I'm watching tv and I see someone on it , I have to pick up my lap top and search for their name . If I didn't , I'd drive myself crazy trying to remember it !

Yep I'm the same ...I do exactly as you do TMS, search immediately if I'm trying to think of a name or a fact I've forgotten if I see it on tv..

I was trying to think what your film might be Sassycakes, but it's not ringing any bells with me, but then I'm not a big film watcher, so someone else might know it by your description.. :)

It is still driving me crazy. My sister thought it might have had Loretta Young in it, but I didn't think so. I thought Olivia De Haviland or Yvonne De Carlo but I did not see any movie they were in that looked like the one I was looking for.

With the vague story line and list of possible stars in it, you don’t give us much to go on but I do understand the annoyance of not remembering something. It can bring about a touch of OCD with me.

These kinds of things really rile my OCDs
I usually end up going thru the alphabet for clues
Once I get to U chances of success with people and places become slim

Google helps

Yeah, that movie seems lacking in pertinent detail

'Black and white'.....'40s, '50s?

I do the same, when it comes to going through the alphabet to try and come up with the correct name. My success rate is around 98%.

I don't know the movie, but go through the same ""self-annoyances" . My current one is not remembering the last name of a woman a family friend lived with for quite a few years, & too lazy to pull out my photo albums to try to find it. Can remember her face clearly. Go figure!

I know what you mean about going through the alphabet, because I do that a lot. I've been typing in so many different ways to find this movie, but so far no luck.

I do this also with a lot of things. It truly helps jog the memory.

I even went online to see if I could find any movies that matched the exciting plot of the one you saw.:playful:I really did.

Oh my, this reminds me of the day my friend and I were driving to another city and during the yakety-yak, we recalled a night time TV talk show host with regard to his defense of Woody Allen, back when Woody was accused of child molestation and the whole Soon Ye thing.

We could NOT remember the host's name! We could see him in our mind's eye, described him to each other, went nuts. It was on the tip of our tongues!

No i-phones to look him up. Trapped in the car, we were ridiculous in our frustration. This went on at least 20 minutes, until we finally stopped trying.

After a few minutes, it came to me- Dick Cavett! How we laughed!

What did the mother-in-law threaten her with, since she wasn't doing anything wrong? Enough of a threat to get her to abandon her husband and child? Maybe remembering that could give you a clue.

What was she visiting the other man for? Probably not anything professional, back in those days. So, maybe the man she was visiting was her brother, and the mother-in-law didn't know it?

Where did the guy who gave children's parties fit into this? Maybe he was the same man she was visiting in his apartment? (Planning a big birthday party for her kid, perhaps?)

P.S. Have you tried Joan Crawford or Bette Davis? Or Hedy Lamarr?

Yes I have tried all 3 of these actresses and none matched. I think the man she visited often was either deaf or blind and she was teaching him how to help his condition. I don't think it was the same man as the one who does children's parties.

Wife and I at dinner.
Struggling over the name of an old detective show Andy Griffith starred in.

I went thru the alphabet several times with salad.
Dessert produced nothing.
Coffee instigated a nervous pursuit.

The TV sched was bereft.
Dial up was not even a consideration.

It began to become our mutual white whale.

Time, days passed.

One evening we had folks over.
I had to excuse myself for a bit.

Upstairs, settling into the thinking position on the throne;

Reared up.

‘Matlo-o-o-o-o-o-ck!!!!’

My lady, downstairs, sez ‘YES!.... YES!....YES!!!’

We never did tell our company what that was all about.

I'm still looking for the movie ,but I am not having any luck. I found out tonight I am not the only nut searching for a movie. I found a forum with a section that people can ask if someone knows the title of a movie that the person can't remember. I looked through a lot of them but no luck. I did laugh though because there were 6696 posts in that section.;)

Yep, it drives me crazy too. Whenever I see a familiar face on a TV show (but can't remember what other show they were on) I have to watch all the credits at the end so I can look them up later. Of course half the time the credits were listed at the beginning and I missed them anyway. LOL

I lose the plot of so many movies that way, trying too hard to remember where I 'know' a particular actor from.
