I Refuse To Eat That...

Yesterday I went to fry an egg. Took it out of the box cracked it and poured it into bowl but the yolk wouldn't break because there was an embryo chick in there. First time ever. o_O
That's called balut. Some consider it a delicacy.

Balut

Developing poultry embryo boiled and eaten
Balut is a fertilized developing egg embryo that is boiled or steamed and eaten from the shell.

🤢 One time (that's all it took) I smelled squirrel that was being cooked. It was ... probably around the mid 70s, and after all these decades, I can still physically remember how horrible the smell was to me. Oh gag... now I need chocolate to erase that memory.

Here's a link for you.
I know about squirrels we have millions here.believe me..I know they're supposed to be rats with tails.. and tell me about the damage they do.. just in the last couple of months they broken my fence because some ''kind'' neighbour is feeding them so they run along my fence and have broken it beyond repair... buttttt... we never eat them... I think if a restaurant here put squirrel on the menu..they'd be boycotted...

We avoid most all morning breakfast crap. Eat positive good for us fresh stuff. Ignore red meats & prepped crap.
If a Company / Corp / Kentucky sells or produces it and sells it, we ignore it. Bottles of Pop, Water, B.S. Energy Drinks nada.
I trap Squirrels every year (10) or so and take them 40 mile north to the timber. May they have a good life where I can look after
and they are not on my summer homes roof.

I will admit as a young man I hunted, skinned and cooked / ate those Muscle tough lil guys. But I was hungry then and it was fine.
Most likely the starving that ate vole would agree.

I saw another thread asking about oyster stew. That got me thinking...what are some foods you absolutely refuse to eat?

You can include why if you like.

For me?

Clams and oysters. Here, eat this mucus. Ugh.

Oatmeal. Here, eat this vomit.

I don't know how people can eat that stuff.
I hate clams and oysters, but I am OK with oatmeal, however I must confess I like my oatmeal cold. I like to sprinkle sugar on the hot oatmeal and then wait till it is cold. I hate saurkraut with a passion! There are other foods I am not crazy about but would eat if someone served it to me.

Y'all never went hungry. Especially after the war between the states there was no game left.

These are interesting responses. . . . I see I'm not the only one here who doesn't care for oysters, although I've never tried oyster stew.

I have kind of a love/hate relationship with shellfish. 😁 I love lobster but hate crab. Love scallops but dislike oysters and clams.

I won't eat oatmeal, or cottage cheese, or anything with mayonnaise in it. Even typing the word nearly makes me gag. I've tried sushi and sashimi once and did not care for it, but if I had the chance I may try it again. Not a lot of sushi here in the Great Plains, and if there were I wouldn't trust it. It would have to travel too far.

The Last time I had Mussels was at my grandson's 18th birthday at the S.C. restaurant in Summerville, S.C.
They were good. Shrimp are my preferred sea food. Seafood at Merles Inlet & Shem Creek are great too.
