If you’re a cowboy, do you need a truck to go with the hat and cowboy boots?

If you're a real cowboy you need just two things

1. A hoss 🐴
2. A cowgirl ;)
Someone I know who ‘was’ a city boy found a cowgirl and now has a cowboy hat, cowboy boots and has even purchased the truck. It’s not a criticism at all. This person appears thrilled with his new life. Change can be good. I’m happy for him and his new family.

Wow, a lot of drug store cowboys here!

I grew up in a small mountain town in Colorado in the 50's. The valley we lived in was 'Ranch Country'. We had probably 10-15 cattle ranches in our valley, they raised 'cattle for beef'. Most of the ranchers had large families and I went to school with many of them. The boys wore full cowboy outfits all the time. They played in them, worked in them, and went to school in them...although they cleaned up for school. No cow poop on the boots...

The outfits they wore were suited to their way of life. They worked outside doing chores in the mornings before school and then after school, till sundown when they got home from school (I stayed with a few ranch kids to earn some money). They all were well mannered, physically strong kids, and if they played sports with us, they were real tuff. I liked most all of them, but us town kids never wore cowboy outfits to school, they would not have liked that. It was a good life...probably still is!

Is this about, what's that old saying? All hat and no cattle?
I resemble that remark. Well, aside from the hat. At least that kind of hat. I think most of mine are variations on the Homburg. They've lived in the closet for decades. I also had a flatcap worn more recently, but just because it always made a coworker burst out laughing.

LOL. Love the Homburg idea.

Well, I have a black felt wide-brim Fedora. Actually ordered it for my husband, but the largest size available did not fit him, so I (immediately!) laid claim to it. Not that I have much of anywhere to wear such a hat, but ...
