If you know god, then what?

I’m sure many believers see this differently than I do, but I’ve never been able to convince myself that a being of such immense power truly exists. And if such an entity did, I find it hard to imagine that the wants and needs voiced in daily prayers would amount to anything more than trivial noise to it. In the words of Jim Morrison, "you cannot petition the lord with prayer" 😬

I also wrestle with the idea that a benevolent creator would allow the world’s suffering to persist as it does. I’ve never been able to reconcile that, even with the familiar reassurances—“we don’t understand God’s plan” or “He never gives us more than we can handle.” Those explanations simply don’t resolve the tension for me.

That said, I do understand the comfort faith provides for so many, as rbtvgo described. I’m genuinely glad it brings him peace. I suppose my experience is just different.
Maybe the issue is the concept of God. The universe, the planets. Our planet earth. The rhythm and flow of our existence. If a god did not ordain and create, then why are we here? Why are we having this discussion or dialogue. You leave your very existence out of your reasoning. How did you get here. Where did it all start? We reason with limited understanding. We apply morals, standards. What we perceive to be right and wrong. Where did that all come from?
Your basis for explanation and reason is based on what? How we were brought up? How our parents thought? How their parents thought? We can go back hundreds of years and the same questions are there. Who or what created why we exist and for what purpose?
Why are we here?
What is our origins?
It get's back to the concept of God.
You can't explain why you are here, your parents, your grandparents, your entire family tree. You do not know.
So who is this God like entity that puts us here and now?
You can't escape what I am saying.
I don't have the facts or intellect to go any further. I have what reasoning and understanding my creator has given me. I can only add that you need to look beyond what you know, question why you believe what you know and ask God to explain. That, I assure you will happen.

Hi @Mr. Ed
your post here:

Reminds me of the verse:
1 John 4;7 beloved let us love one another..

So I say, if you know God you must know Love, in which case we should all want to get better at loving others, too

Mark 12-30, 31 NIV Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’[a] 31 The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’[b] There is no commandment greater than these.”

😇

I like that. It seems very direct and doesn't necessarily involve any church. One can interpret their own God.

You're describing faith. I don't seem to have that but I do think evolution is a reasonable explanation for our existence.

It would be interesting if someone here started a "Bible Study," where we could read a small part of the Bible every day and other folks would comment on the verses posted here.
It's really not about bible study. It's good, don't get me wrong. This is more about belief in a God who has created us and has watched over his creation. This is about the concept, belief and understanding of a God who created the universe, created us and wants nothing more then our acceptance of his existence and power. God created us in his image, (Gen 1:26-27).
He gave us the power of decision. The power to decide right and wrong. He gave us the power to be like him.......................except.................not to replace him, but to acknowledge him and bow down to him as our creator.
