I'm right!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In this forum, you are supposed to give opinions, etc. Duh, that's what it's for. I really don't think we, here, are going to bring about world peace, cure diseases, or open up new worlds of thought. Most of us are just going to gripe. I'm getting pretty at good at griping. But there is one thing I've noticed. We have all become experts on everything. And we are always damned right!!!!!!! I doubt we would be so aggressive if we saw each other in the flesh. But, it's so easy to type venom into an anonymous post. I wonder if it's so easy to do, that is why we seem to hate each other.

You are right, anonymity does not give anyone the right to be rude. I think that is what killed the politics forum here, (not that I went there). I think we are all old enough to recognize that not everyone is of the same mindset as we are. And that is OK. It is one thing to say, "I do not agree, and this is why" but not to insist yours is the only right way to believe.
I have a neighbor with whom I have had to agree to disagree with, as I do not want our differences to come between our neighborly friendship. I like listening to the opinions of others, as there have been times I have looked at my own opinions and decided if I wanted to change them.

I don't know if this was written as a joke or if fuzzybuddy is having a bad day, but I am sure that he/she does not speak for everyone here on this board. My post isn't a complaint (gripe), just an observation and comment.

Was this about society in general ? I've been on the side of opposing opinion, but I don't remember those disagreeing expressing hate.

I don't see aggression, venom, much of griping or hate here at all. I've seen it, though at other sites. and is the reason I came here.

I don't think we hate each other either.
We all have opinions on any given topic,we can agree to disagree. If things get really heated and out of hand, our adminstrators step forward and either delete the thread or ban the poster for a time
Olivia,I agree with you about the gripping and hate. When I was at the AARP website,I saw it all the time with a lot of nasty, mean spirited people. It was the deciding factor for me to leave, best move I ever made was coming here Sue

I’ve been a member since 2013 and believe me, the haters don’t last long on this forum. Matrix and Seabreeze do an excellent job weeding them out. If I don’t care for a topic, I ignore it. I’m sure a lot of folks don’t care for my humor, but they know they can ignore it. In 8 years I’ve only had one member send me nasty pm’s and that was taken care of quickly. Pappy.

Wow! Are we on the same forum?
I don’t see any of that here and none in my physical life here at home.
I strive for peace and contentment and sometimes to get that you have to just agree to disagree which is perfectly ok for ALL concerned.

Goodness me I don't think for one minute I would describe myself or the posters on this forum as aggressive...once upon a time we had a few problems but those people are gone, and I certainly don't hate anyone...

They ABSOLUTELY DO an EXCELLENT job of weeding out haters. I feel exceptionally safe at this site for THAT reason and because this forum attracts like minded members who are kind and compassionate.
Note: but I have taken some threads into a political debate and argued my point somewhat aggressively

Uh oh!

I sure hope this isn't because of something I posted.

If so I humbly implore the offended party or parties to accept the following apology.

The point of my post is that it is way too easy to be anonymously rude to one another in a chatroom. Of course, not everyone does it. I used "we" in my post, because I'm as guilty as everybody else. Maybe if we used real names instead of an "alias"??? And as far as "hate" is concerned, it can be a real element in some chat rooms. I was here when we had a "Politics" forum. It wasn't discontinued because of the love expressed in it.
BTW, I got this compassionate message about my post: "What the **** are you going on about. What a way to insult everyone."

FB, never known you to have an issue
Love yer thread topics
Think yer a pretty cool dude

In the 14 or 15 months I’ve been here, the haters have been pretty much flushed out and handled by admin..

And those that haven’t have been subject to the coolest of long time members, making what could be mean stuff into an incredulously funny upheaval, defusing what could have been ugly.

Chat rooms?

Don't even know if they exist here....never been a fan.....I prefer the open air

I found SF after political discussions were banned. My observation of the current atmosphere echoes what others expressed above. Sometimes the discussions get passionate and heated but hateful? Nah...

I may not be that observant, but I have never noticed hate here. I love hearing other peoples point of view and never get insulted if they don't agree with my point of view. Another persons point of view can be very helpful.

iam new bod on here - but i find compared to other sites is pretty laid back here -- so no i wouldnt use the word HATE ''well not yet anyway lol '

It is sometimes in the behind the scene messages where negativity is expressed. I have withdrawn from engaging very much because of this kind of negativity. I have always tried to be an active contributor to discussions but have recently lost confidence that my posts will be acceptable to other members. I feel sad about it.

I learnt long ago that no-one but myself is responsible for my feelings. I blame no-one for the way I feel but Fuzzybuddy has brought them to the surface and I wanted to add my perceptions to his. The mods do a great job here but nevertheless there can be an undercurrent that is not easily observed by everyone.

This is an excellent place to share experiences and to learn from the experiences of others. There will always be some grumpy folks no matter where you go.
