Just had a wonderful epsom salt bath, squeezed in a bit of my Olay cucumber body wash for bubbles and nice scent. I do things for myself that make me feel good and don't cost a lot. If I wanted extra moisturizer, I could've added some coconut or olive oil.

The magnesium in the epsom salt is sooo relaxing for the muscles, I've had some issues with neck tension and pain, and also lower back pain at times. I'm a big fan of magnesium, and take a supplement daily, also use magnesium oil topically when needed, to massage into stressed and painful muscles.

I rarely take baths, always a shower, so to me it's a special treat. I bought some exfoliating gloves from Walmart that I almost never use, but they're perfect for bathtime. :topsy_turvy:

I think that the period of time (the '40's? The '50's?) when Americans started taking more showers than baths ushered in the downfall of Western civilization. It's a quick fix, a "hurry-up-and-get-it-done" type of mindset that is responsible for so much of our current stress. A long, luxurious bath is a retreat, a temporary vacation from the ills of society and a great time for reflecting upon the day's events, something that is NOT usually done with a quickie shower.

I need not add that the loss of quality time with Mr. Duckie has been responsible for everything from corruption in politics to the current raging debate over gun control laws.

We didn't have a shower as a kid, just one of those claw footed bathtubs, they were nice and roomy. My mother always gave me baths when I was young, usually just in plain water to get the filth off me. :p Every now and then she'd give me the treat of adding some bubble bath to it...looved that, so special. Back in the day we appreciated much simpler things in life. :sentimental:

I remember those claw footed bathtubs that were tall enough that you can really get under the water. Now, the bathtubs are so shallow, you really can't get under the water to get warm. It seems that bathtubs are now build just to hold the water from the shower.

My husband and I enjoy our hot tub. On a cold winter's day, its great to warm ourselves to the core - in a hot tub.
