Is cash on the way out?

Here in Australia there are places like football stadiums that only take card. I haven't heard the term reverse ATM - but I think there are places there that you can exchange your cash for a pre paid debit card.

Checks have all but disappeared here.

Quit printing Cash / stamping coins would save taxpayers a lot of Money.
There are only a few times a year most of us need to actually use cash.
One is tipping the Waitress and Bartenders. Thas just a good guy thing!
Government business needs 0 cash!

Sure, eventually, 'tis one facet in the ever changing ways of the modern world.

Yes, but for me the question is,
Is it legal to refuse cash in the U.S?
They say it is, but in that case the promise on the dollar bill
"This note is legal tender for all debts, public and private" is a dirty lowdown lie.

Notice why lending places want Items of physical existence,
property for collateral. There is no actual huge volumes stores
of Cash Money backed by anything else but property out there.
That backed by Silver, Copper and Gold was always a Ponzi Scheme.
Think about how a place can buy up Gold and Silver with
Paper Money, worthless really!

Seniors have little to do with it... I would think that you don't have much in the way of stadiums, arenas, theaters, and the like in your rural community.
No, we do not have the businesses you named off. I was responding in general to posts about stores and restaurants that do not accept cash. To be successful in a small town, businesses need to be responsive to the needs and preferences of the community, particularly when it's an old fashioned town with a lot of seniors.

well, like Macktexas said, businesses will tune in to their customer demographic - if most customers want to pay with cash, they will take cash.

If most customers are card paying and it doesnt hurt their business to lose any who want to pay cash, and cash is more problematic for them, then they won't.

I have not come across any shops in Australia that will not take cash - but larger places like sports stadiums can be card only.
Our main football arena is card only.

We rarely if ever use cash. We use our phone to pay for everything. It’s far safer.
Within every smartphone is a software that tracks you. All your data is transmitted, analysed and exploited by Google, Apple and various apps companies. Deep within your privacy settings this information reveals everything about you and if you own an Android smartphone it even records things that you say, without your knowledge.

An Android smartphone sends all of the tracking information straight to Google. Apple says that the tracking information it collects is kept solely on the smartphone and will not be revealed to anyone without the user’s consent. However, both Apple and Google also collect a significant amount of personal data, beyond your location, related to your use of the smartphone.

Supermarkets track you via their loyalty card, the banks are also tracking you by way of credit and debit card use and of course cookies here in the internet are also in on the invasion of privacy. They all buy and sell your profile so they have an agenda to see the end of cash.
After all, cash is anonymous and it can't be tracked. Dear, oh dear, we can't have that.

So, do you use cash?

I ordered a couple of drafts at the Bar the other day and gave the Bartender a $10.
I thought he was going to have a stroke. Said keep the Change. They are so used
to waiting the table and keeping a tab with Credit card / Debit cards.

Oh yes, indeed I do. But like papa tiger discovered, it can be judged suspicious.
We have a couple of fast food takeaway places locally that refuse cash. The hell
with them, I simply go further afield when we buy a takeaway.
Did you let them know that they are losing business by not accepting cash?
