Yes.
I have not written a check in any store for at least 10 years, probably longer. I use my credit card when I can, to avoid carrying much cash, and pay the bill in full at the end of the month.
Dollar Tree only accepts cash or debit cards, so I pay cash. I have a debit card because my bank provides one to all account holders, but the only time I ever use it is to withdraw cash at the ATM machine.
The rest of this is strange:
It was at least 20 years ago that Walmart started processing checks (debiting our accounts) at the register, and handing the checks back to the customer. It seemed odd, but I understood it. About that same time, my mother started developing Alzheimer's. She had always paid by check in stores - and I still remember her telling us,
"I wrote a check at Walmart, and the dingbat at the register handed my check back to me at the end. Now how dumb is that?"
