He was hospitalized with organ failure and his prognosis poor; his family told to expect the worst. Is he really dead or is it an internet hoax?

This evening news said he is fighting for his life and he has kidney and liver failure.

Personally, I hope a liver and kidney goes to some younger person who did not do drugs and just wants to live their life, so..I hope someone is not going to die over this guy getting first chance at new organs.

This sounds cold blooded, but...it's how I feel.

David was diagnosed with dementia in 2015, I believe. I would rather die quickly from organ failure than linger for years, losing my mind an inch at a time.

How sad. he seems young to suffer from dementia.

I agree and he has dementia. He made his choices and now has to live and die with them.

It is unlikely that an organ match could be found at this late date. I believe that younger people should have first pick when it comes to transplants, assuming a match is available. I don’t believe in castigating someone just because they have struggled with substance abuse issues. It is not as cut and dried as choosing to screw up one’s life. Addiction is a complex illness, usually with a hereditary component. Casssidy’s father, Jack, was an alcoholic. I know David struggled with alcoholism also.

I understand your sentiment.

I would be surprised if the people in charge of organ donation programs would approve a transplant for someone with a fatal illness like dementia. I think one of the requirements is that donors be healthy enough to experience some degree of recovery.

Posting two comments about David's drug use made it sound like you want to throw him under the bus.

Everyone has a right to life, even drug users. Without empathy or even sympathy, we aren't fully human.

Completely true.

I guess I am not human anymore then. Dude ruined his own body. I didn't wish him ill, but I also didn't want him pushed to the front of the line, either.
