My primary care physician is a woman and I prefer it that way. Also my gynecologist and dentist. I've just not had very good luck with male doctors. The ones I had seemed to me to be patronizing to women. One when I was being tested for a breast lump was actually eating chips while he was examining me. And another when asking me about my physical activities told me that karate was not good enough. Anyway, mostly just in general, though.

Female family physician. She's okay. Male dentist, okay.
I had a hysterectomy when my cancer of the uterus was removed so my female doc told me I don't need a gyn
.
The Male doctor who did my surgery at Duke was excellent on many levels. They don't come any better.

Female dentist, female health practitioner
I trust women more than men and feel more comfortable with them.

Male. Though that had nothing to do with the reason I'm using him. He is very understanding and caring, and so far his care has been excellent. Also, when a specialist is needed, his referrals have also been excellent.

I don't go on a regular basis but when I had to it was a male doctor. He recently lost his license because he let another doctor who wasn't licensed in this state practice in his group. Now his son took over. I'm not happy about that. After all these years, I'm not looking forward to finding someone else but when I do I'm leaning toward a female.

I've had only female medical practitioners for years. The exception is an orthopedic surgeon. I feel more comfortable with women examining me. I did change from a female eye surgeon to a male recently. He is so nice but, of course, is retiring in a few months.

Male, but, I've mostly had female physicians over the past 15 years and would prefer to have a woman doc now. But mostly it depends on the doctor and so far, my women doctors have been more sensitive to my needs. Gender won't always determine more relatable, but, it's just been easier in some instances talking to my lady docs.

I've had some terrific male doctors who filled in for my present doctor, but, I wouldn't feel comfortable asking to switch, plus they have to agree to take you on and then there's that messy bit if they don't, possibly not wanting to step on co-workers toes. If you make such a request your present doc will know about it and though they swear an oath of sorts to treat their patients fairly, I don't want to risk resentment. I like the guy as a person, he's a sweet person, I just would like a different doc with more experience and relatable knowledge to some degree.

A man. Don't you hate being left in the examining room with the door closed when the doctor is done and they walk out to write a prescription then the assistant comes in eventually to hand you the prescription? I will never understand that. Why not wait in the lobby? With mine they ask when you call for an appointment your reason for coming. Then I am asked by the nurse when I arrive why I am there then the doctor asks.

My current PCP is a man about my age.

My only complaint/observation is that it is impossible to discuss anything with him. He immediately wants to send me for tests or to see a specialist. He reminds me of the old Sears Automotive Center mechanics, get under the hood and sell, sell, sell!!!

I'm more into watchful waiting or WAW.

Mine is a male, an older man. It's occurred to me recently that he may retire one of these days. I'd prefer a female, but it's not easy to find one. My cardiologist is also a male. My dermatologist is a female and am seeing a psychiatrist who is a female also.
