Iranian state TV is bombed during live broadcast as Tehran's leaders show first signs of crumbling in wake of Israeli strikes amid radiation warning at targeted nuclear plants - live updates
Iran's state broadcaster was bombed live on air during an
Israeli attack aimed at wiping out the country's 'propaganda megaphone'.
The blast occurred at Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) building as the presenter was lambasting
Israel before she was seen leaving the broadcast. Several employees were killed in the attack, Iranian media have reported.
Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz warned Iran's state television and radio, which he labelled the 'propaganda and incitement megaphone', were 'about to disappear'.
It comes as Iran's leadership shows the first sign of backing down in the face of a new wave of Israeli strikes across Tehran, with the relentless attacks forcing thousands of Iranians to flee the capital.
Iran has urgently signalled it is open to negotiations to end the hostilities so long as the US does not join Israel's attack on it, officials have reportedly told the Wall Street Journal.
But Israel has shown no sign of backing down, and earlier said that it has 'full aerial superiority' over Tehran and has destroyed around a third of Iran's missile stockpile in a four-day blitz of Iranian rocket launchers, military bases and cities.
The IDF issued evacuation orders covering a large part of Tehran for the first time on Monday afternoon, with footage showing blasts hitting various parts of the city and reports that a military base in the west had been hit.
Meanwhile US aircraft carrier USS Nimitz is heading towards the Middle East as the conflict between Israel and Iran spirals into all-out war.
