Israel Strikes Iran's Nuclear Facilities

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, @Brookswood?

For God's sake, I question the sources some of you use. I notice stories being told with no links! Are you ashamed of your sources? You're supposed to link with the source of your "information"
What are you talking about? In 2019, when the attacks on the Saudi oils fields occurred, Pompeo had that job all year.

The link to the Reuters story was and is in plain sight in my post.

Yeah, my son's been advising me to ignore AI responses when internet searching.
I understand AI has been downloading every bit of information on the net, and I think they still have years to amass it all. If that's true, I wonder if they have some way of filtering out untruths, propaganda, and misinformation. If they don't, they are no more reliable than the internet itself, which is remarkably unreliable.

I've consulted AI Chat maybe 10 times, and so far, the bots seem to have a good grasp of the facts. But 10 is not a large sample, and the questions I asked were not political in nature.

Just for fun, here's the AI on the accuracy of AI.

"AI can be accurate in performing specific tasks, but it often struggles with biases and inaccuracies due to the limitations of its training data. It's important to critically evaluate AI outputs, as they can sometimes produce misleading or incorrect information."

Make of that what you will. ;)

That's pretty insightful of AI, more so than humans in general. Maybe the next generation will have accurate fact checking abilities. There is one thing AI needs to figure out. How can it "human proof" itself. Just like the high hopes we had for the world wide "information highway," AI can be hijacked to promote cultural bias and conflict to create even less reliable information than we have been bombed with for the last 30 years of utube and social media. The next step in "stupidifying" society for the power hungry may already be here and ready to divide and conquer.

We have accurate fact checking abilities now. It's just a matter of employing them.

Iran launched a fresh barrage of strikes on Israel on Sunday just hours after 14 of its nuclear scientists were killed in a series of car bomb attacks.

The IDF confirmed that 'several areas across the country' had been hit by strikes orchestrated by Tehran as the conflict between the two continued into its third day.

Israel's ambulance service, Magen David Adom, said two people have been taken to hospital with shrapnel injuries following strikes in Haifa, in northern Israel, although it is continuing locate any 'additional casualties'.

The strikes came just hours after local media reported Tehran was hit by five car bombs. They were among a series of attacks that killed 14 of Iran's nuclear scientists which Israeli officials denied taking part in.

It also emerged on Sunday that in US Donald Trump vetoed an Israeli plan to kill Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, according to US officials.

The officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the Israelis reported that they had an opportunity to kill the top Iranian leader, but Trump waved them off of the plan.

At least ten people have been killed in Iranian strikes overnight and into Sunday, according to Israel's Magen David Adom rescue service, bringing the country's total death toll to 13.

In Iran, Israeli strikes have killed at least 406 people and wounded another 654, according to Washington-based Human Rights Activists. Iran's government has not offered overall casualty figures.
Iranian nuclear scientists targeted in Tehran car bombings

It is estimated that Israel has somewhere between 90 and 400 nuclear warheads. And they feel justified in bombing Iran because they might be close to getting one. The hypocrisy of that is beyond stunning to me.
I understand the sentiment and recognize the hypocrisy. However, Iran has repeatedly expressed hostile intentions toward Israel, even suggesting its eradication. Given the devastating power of nuclear weapons, it would not take many strikes to achieve such a goal. This situation is more about self-preservation than anything else. It's deeply unfortunate that global conflicts escalate to this level of destruction rather than being resolved through binding arbitration—ideally, the very role the U.N. was meant to fulfill.

I don't see it as hypocrisy. It's about the stated intentions and past actions of the parties. Case in point - I have 2 older 80ish brothers, both served in the army, both avid hunters in their younger years, neither has any criminal history, or so much as a traffic ticket, and both have multiple weapons, We also have a cousin who has served hard time twice, once for armed robbery, another for attempted murder, but is now out of prison. He has asked my brothers to get him a weapon for "self defense", which of course they refuse to do. Are they being hypocritical for refusing to give/sell the cousin a weapon? Should our cousin be allowed to own a weapon under any circumstances?

What kind of war planes is Israel flying? They have made some remarkable raids. Their pilots seem to be top notch.
According to AI -
Israel has purchased a total of 75 F-35 fighter jets. Initially, Israel ordered 50 F-35s, with 39 already delivered. In June 2024, Israel signed a deal to acquire 25 more F-35s for $3 billion, with deliveries starting in 2028. These aircraft will be delivered in batches of 3 to 5 per year. Israel modified them to meet their needs.
If the goal is air dominance, the F-22 is more potent. If the mission requires strike capabilities and versatility, the F-35 is the better choice.

A fair point of view. Imagine the scientific and medical advances that we would see if all of the military budgets were converted to benevolent causes? Unfortunately, we have to face the fact that human beings are tribal, territorial, and violently intolerant.

I have a love/hate relationship with AI, but I took one for the team and asked:

"What Experts Say

Most geopolitical analysts argue that while we’re in a period of heightened risk and multipolar instability, we are not yet at the brink of a global war. Many current conflicts are regional and proxy-based, not full mobilizations between great powers."
Well in this case I pray that AI got it right.

So far, if there are conflicting view points, AI tends to point that out, rather than say one is correct. So it does seem to have a way of filtering unverifiable "facts."

I don't know how or why anyone would ask AI anything. Guess it'll be forced on all of us eventually.
I actually use it for relatively simple and routine things. As I'm learning to cook new recipes,
AI has been helpful if I want simple tweaks to a recipe or even make me something new (to me)
that uses the ingredients that I have on hand. Also, I use it if I might be looking for different perspectives
on a certain subject... but that is where, imho, things can slip sideways pretty fast.
It seems to me that anything that has aspects that can be seen through a filter of any type of
ideology, the AI platform tends to skew things in favor of the developer's ideology.
I know that sounds terribly conspiratorial, but that's the way I've seen things in the limited experience
that I have using AI.

OMG !!

LIVE

Iranian state TV is bombed during live broadcast as Tehran's leaders show first signs of crumbling in wake of Israeli strikes amid radiation warning at targeted nuclear plants - live updates

Iran's state broadcaster was bombed live on air during an Israeli attack aimed at wiping out the country's 'propaganda megaphone'.
The blast occurred at Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) building as the presenter was lambasting Israel before she was seen leaving the broadcast. Several employees were killed in the attack, Iranian media have reported.

Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz warned Iran's state television and radio, which he labelled the 'propaganda and incitement megaphone', were 'about to disappear'.

It comes as Iran's leadership shows the first sign of backing down in the face of a new wave of Israeli strikes across Tehran, with the relentless attacks forcing thousands of Iranians to flee the capital.

Iran has urgently signalled it is open to negotiations to end the hostilities so long as the US does not join Israel's attack on it, officials have reportedly told the Wall Street Journal.

But Israel has shown no sign of backing down, and earlier said that it has 'full aerial superiority' over Tehran and has destroyed around a third of Iran's missile stockpile in a four-day blitz of Iranian rocket launchers, military bases and cities.

The IDF issued evacuation orders covering a large part of Tehran for the first time on Monday afternoon, with footage showing blasts hitting various parts of the city and reports that a military base in the west had been hit.

Meanwhile US aircraft carrier USS Nimitz is heading towards the Middle East as the conflict between Israel and Iran spirals into all-out war.

Iran retaliated with 3 days in a row of missile attacks. Israel is trying to target too much using a more traditional war strategy. Iran still has missiles attacking them They shouldn't be worrying about utilities and non military targets at this time.

They said there's been a resistance and desire for change in Iran for years. These hostilities might be the straw to break the camels back or galvanize Iran even more.

Rather than try to determine what Israeli methodology might be from my Lazy-Boy couch, I like to see what actually occurs. As has been said elsewhere, the Mossad kicks intelligence butt -- even above the CIA.

Since I've gotten my 5G phone, I'm using Gemini ( Android AI) more often. My husband used to ask his phone lots of things. Back then, I never did. Now Gemini will give an answer and also show the website(s) and articles sourced from. Sometimes I'm just looking for the website of a particular establishment or a phone number and Gemini finds it for me. I find this to be quite helpful, something I never thought I'd be saying!
