It is 90 seconds to midnight!

The Doomsday Clock is ticking away and it appears as if this is the closest to catastrophe as we've ever been.
What do you think about it or have you even ever stopped to consider it? Could we actually be on the brink
of an apocalypse? Why not read about it here at this link and let's discuss what our feelings are. C'mon,
this'll be fun! 😉

I don't know if this is fun? Actually, it is serious; especially if you are a young person. So many countries are sending supplies to the Ukraine to fight the Russians. Even Canada which used to be a neutral country. Anyone who has ever studied or saw any films on WWI or WWII will know that when war starts millions of innocent women and children are killed. When planes drop bombs, do you think that only enemy soldiers are killed below? Better think that one out again.

Sure, I have considered what war is or was. I just finished a 10 - 50 minutes series called, "Russia's War, Blood Upon The Snow." It's a Russian film with English subtitles. Very different from US films featuring John Wayne leading the troops to win WWII.

I find the Doomsday Clock an interesting site and saw many engaging subjects in it and have applied to receive updates of latest articles. Like I have stated on this forum before I believe that well over fifty percent the nuclear weapons that Russa has are outdated corrosion filled unusable weapons that have the potential to do more damage to Russia that the rest of the world.

I, too, think we've been very close to annihilation in the past from what I remember as a child re: the Cuban missile crisis. What astounds me is how many people who claim to be religious have a "bring it on" mentality about the possibility of WW III because they equate it with the second coming and an ushering in of a new age. I'm not so sure about that. It could just bring more death and misery to the world. So, I guess I don't believe we're at the end of anything. This kind of thing goes on sporadically. You can control people through fear and that is what is happening to us.

Like chic, when I hear someone say out of hand, "nuke 'em," I am appalled. War is the greatest insult a human can perpetrate against his fellow human. It is beyond tragic. The very act of war is the most obscene gesture ever wrought. I don't know how the Ukraine situation will play out in the end, but if it results in the use of nuclear weapons, we are doomed. It seems as though some out there are daring Russia to carry out this threat. Very frightening and not fun at all.

I pay no attention to huge things out of my control. When we had to desk-dive, go under our desks in elementary school against Russian nukes I knew it was stupid & useless & I was six at the time. Too big to ponder, so I don't.

I only let minutia upset me.

Putin needs to worry about the apocolypse. But how much I worry has no effect on Putin. Of course, Putin wants us to worry. It's his way of threatening others to stay out of his way, so he can just take what doesn't belong to him. In any event it's out of my hands. But put me in charge of Russia, and I'll solve this problem tomorrow.

I thought the same thing. We had been told how devastating a nuclear blast was, and then taught to hide under our desks? My thought was, "This is really kind of silly. I'd probably do this anyway without being told, even if it was pointless." I figured anyone with any brains at would run for the boys bathroom, and hide in a stall for maximum safety away from the windows. Never-the-less, getting a chance to hide on the floor under our desks was a happy relief from schoolwork. I remember my schoolmates giggling and having fun, so that was a good thing.

It's not just nuclear weapon use risk, but climate change and many other factors are included in it now. All of them are things we could do something about, if people stopped voting for people who make their entire existence into making sure we can't.
Now we're getting excessive if we throw in climate change and other stuff. What about enjoying each day and forgetting the megaverse about which we can do nothing unless we all put aside our differences and unite as our generation did in the sixties. I'm not going to worry about the doomsday clock. There's too much to do and enjoy and doomsday clocks would spoil that. For once I'm glad I don't have a lot of time on my hands.

Few people realize how close we came to "Armageddon" during that crisis. I was stationed on a AF base in Germany, and every available F-105 was fueled up, loaded with a nuke, and the pilots were in the cockpit ready to start their engines, and launch a "one way" mission that would have been the end of civilization. We were within minutes of launch when Russia turned its ships around.

This Ukraine mess could easily escalate into a similar situation. The more arms we send to Ukraine, and the more Russian losses mount, Putin could ultimately go nuts, and "push the button".

Putin won't worry, he is unhinged and really is only concerned with power. Western Putin apologists are unhinged and don't understand much of the real world.

I hear ya. Coming back from burger king, was in the left turn outside lane. Made the turn and this jackass crosses into MY lane.

I laid on the horn, dimwit was acting like "What's the issue?" Next time I'll be faster, they'll damn well will see me and not in the rearview.

Now, we return you all to the Doomsday clock discussion.
