It's not easy being royal

For one thing the British media is rabid in its pursuit of stories and consequently the Royals are hidebound in protocol and duty.

Here is Prince Harry explaining why he chose to leave Britain and his place in the Royal Family. I sympathise entirely with his reasons and wish him well in US as a private citizen. I've long admired his qualities as a man with a warm heart. I love what he has done with the wounded warriors and made it my business to attend a couple of events of the Invictus Games when it was held in Sydney.

I wish I had the burden of being royal. Living in palaces, never counting your pennies, being well fed always and warm and comfortable too, flying everywhere in jets while convincing the little folks their cows are polluting the world out of existence. Bring it on. I could handle this. swell manse.jpgswell life 4.jpg

I do not envy British royalty. Your time is rarely your own, and everything that you do is under the spotlight. Cameras, reporters everywhere. Prince Harry was wise to give all that up and be with the woman he loved, and not choose a lifestyle over her.

I love British Royalty and the incredible history. No one is perfect. The Queen was a beautiful soul. William and Kate are beautiful. Harry and Megan are beautiful. The new King and his wife are beautiful. The Royal family, the residents they serve are all beautiful. The long history of the entire area is beautiful.

It comes with the territory. The public is always going to be interested in those they support monetarily. Those photographers are trying to make a living, and if they catch you stepping out of line, the more they are paid for their efforts of selling those pictures. Best thing to do is just look their way, give a brief smile and get on with your business. After all, Harry and all who have come before him, and will after, know that they will be objects of intense interest. It's not as though this comes as a complete surprise. His entire take on it all, is, the paparazzi killed his mother, which is ridiculous. It gives him a reason to become a victim himself, catapulting him into a vulnerable cause célèbre, keeping him in the limelight. What better way to compete with a brother who will become the future King of the UK.? Got it? Just needed conniving Megan to figure it all out for him.

I watched 4 mins of the video. I would love to see the royal family all get along but, like us they are human and media worthy so their every move is monitored. I do not blame H and M for wanting to leave, to want privacy but it seems that since they left the royal family they are everywhere in the news. The last month has been pretty quiet until M started her assault once again on the royal family. They do not want to be part of the firm but they want the perks. Who are we to believe? the media manipulates the narrative. H and M should go back to California, live their life to the fullest but leave the royal family out of it. And stop giving interviews. What goes on in the family should remain private.
I wonder if they think about the impact this might have on their children who will grow up with this legacy of family infighting.

Most of us do not and will never understand why Harry cited being in the public eye and too much press intrusion as the main reasons for stepping down as a senior royal and leaving the UK, only to then appear with his wife on Oprah (GLOBAL press coverage!!!) in that appalling 'interview' then follow up with a vile documentary and be constantly whining about the Royal Family to the press, including stating that his brother and father are prisoners who can't escape as he did; even if that is true of them, it is for them to make that public. He also claimed that his father refused to take his calls/did not return them. It's so disloyal talking about them like that. If he himself found the press so intrusive then what on earth makes him think he can disclose private matters relating to his father and brother, and that be acceptable? Both he and Meghan have made a point of promising 'explosive details' and 'the real truth about whatever'. Publicity mongering for payment. Sickening. A lot of his bleating has been about his father 'cutting him off' financially and not continuing to provide security, saying he was "shocked" that it was withdrawn. In choosing to step down as a Senior Royal and move to the US, Harry forfeited his entitlement to security, but he still expected it.

I don't know Meghan personally so can't speak as to her character and certainly wouldn't speculate or accuse her. I just don't know what happened to Harry after he met her, because he changed and not for the better. His 'memoir/tell-all' book was supposed to be published in October or November but that's been postponed due to the death of Queen Elizabeth and there is speculation here about whether that book will be published or not now. In his first address as our new monarch, King Charles made it clear that he loves Harry and his wife and wishes them well as they "continue to build their lives overseas". They chose to leave and it was purely coincidental that they happened to be here when the Queen died. Harry and Meghan are on shaky ground as it is, so I hope for his/their sake the book either isn't published or if it is, it will NOT further attack the Royal Family.

Harry is a total entitled snowflake... and His wife is a manipulator of the lowest order.. he'll wake up to that one day ..
She's not well liked is she? KGO Newstalk from San Francisco is still talking about the Queen and proceedings. They were discussing the Duchess this AM. One of the hosts doesn't think she's treated fairly by the press.

I hear Harry has a book coming out later this year. Don't hate me, but I just might buy it.

I agree that they want the perks without the work. I think he’s wounded soul and easily manipulated by Meghan. I also don’t believe that the royal family ever speculated about Archie’s skin color before he was born.
It is exactly the sort of thing that might have come out of the mouth of the Duke of Edinburgh.

Even if they did, who wouldn't speculate.? It's a natural thing to say. if for example.. you had no red hair in your family.. and the father or mother has red hair.. you might say.. I wonder if the child will have red hair..

So in that sense...Why wouldn't someone wonder what colour the baby's skin will be when one parent identifies as Black. ?...and in actual fact it's been written that it was prince Charles who said it.. and not Philip...

..but this was just an example of the manipulation of MM to try and gain sympathy from the Black community..

San Francisco Newstalk just refered to Camilla as Queen Camilla, dropping the consort. I'm wondering if this will become the norm?

But then this is America.

Title of this thread reminds me of Kermit ... "it's not easy being Green"

" Harry and Meghan are on shaky ground as it is,"

Boy oh boy ! That should make for a nice divorce profit ........ for her . 💰

I almost wonder if that was the plan all along ?

Actually, I am not going into the pros or cons of the like or dislike the royals but I will say this:

I don't like the tabloid papers and I don't really like the media. There would be no tabloids if there were low lives to buy and read them.

Same line of reasoning for the drug problem in Canada and the US. If there were no willing addicts to buy the drugs, there would be no reason to sneak them into the country as there would be no market and boy, is there a market here.

I expect so. The wife of King George VI, who was later referred to as the Queen Mother after his death was his queen consort but was always referred to as Queen Elizabeth until her daughter Elizabeth became the monarch.

..and then the wiley old QM, managed to get ''Queen'' in her title as an Ex Consort .. after King George died .. she demanded to be known as Elizabeth the Queen Mother :D
