It's official I've finally lost my mind !

Welcome to the club! My mind has been functioning in a strange way as well, though not quite like what you describe. I call them brain glitches and hopefully that's all it is...a glitch, not a permanent condition. Just about everybody I talk to (and interact with online) can't remember what day it is BTW.

The whole COVID thing has destroyed schedules and routines.

I read an article that said it takes two weeks for your circadia (life rhythms) to reset. In other words, when you take vacation, you've not reset your internal daily schedule until day 15...THEN you can start to relax. Depressing, huh? I assume that's why Europeans get a 30 day holiday. Of course, that landing's gotta suck.

WIth COVID response, an entire society's circadia has been reset. Not just we retired people, but everyone around us.

I guess this is where I should wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving!!
Now where is that Butterball phone number...

I go outside each Thursday evening to clap with my neighbours, one told me she went out last week and wondered where we all were, until she realised it was Wednesday
I think we should all celebrate the fact that we can do this in our lives and it won't matter one little bit.
-No missed appointments
-No trouble at the job

Just someone's else's version of what this specific 24 hour period should be labeled.
Those labels are there to shackle working folks, not us.

I guess it's from being quarantined but I realized today that I have officially lost my mind. I never remember what day of the week it is, but I've been doing that from when my husband retired. But today I was watching a show on TV and in one of the scenes the family is having Thanksgiving dinner. I started to think if I had gotten my turkey yet. And if I had gotten all the normal things I make for thanksgiving. I asked my Husband what he thinks we need because it will only be him and I this year having Thanksgiving dinner. He gave me a strange look and I asked him what was wrong. He said to me "Barbara, it's only May now." I thought at first he was crazy until he convinced me that it is May. So yes it is official I have lost my mind.
Good you have finally come to your senses

Seriously, I had this happen once over three decades ago and it was definitely a stress/anxiety reaction. It passed once I reoriented myself, but was truly frightening at the time. Don't worry! I have never had that sort of experience again.

Thanks to all - I had forgotten that TODAY is trash day and that I have a phone/doctor's appointment today! Phew - I really need you folks! Okay - trash is out. I can't start yard work this morning, because if I do, I'll forget about my phone appointment. Once I get involved, I lose all track of time.

What day is it? It doesn't matter - without our normal routines, our brains just don't make it a priority... totally typical now, I believe. We will recover our sanity!
