It's refreshing to visit a forum who's members use correct spelling and grammar

Thanks Warrigal.

Yes, I live in tornado alley. Glad to say I've never been affected though (knock on wood). Average daily winter temperature around here is 50 degrees fahrenheit. If it gets up to 80 degrees on a winter day that's a big trouble sign.
Tell me, do you see kangaroos in the wild very often? From what I gather that's about as likely for an Australian as me seeing a whitetail deer in the wild here.
You have to know where and when to look. I live in Sydney so a kangaroo hopping across the Harbour Bridge is so unusual as to feature on the evening news. It has happened.

However, when travelling along country roads they are quite common. During the day they tend to lie down in the shade somewhere and unless they pop their heads up you don't notice them. Around early morning and dusk they feed on the grass and can be seen fairly easily. After dark their eyes reflect the headlights and the silly things stare at cars bearing down on them. Next morning they are visible as road kill on the side of the road.

We, as in Hubby, two teen aged children and myself, once spent a week in a hut beside a dam that was very low because of drought. As the water level dropped, grass had grown around the edges. There was a pine plantation beside the dam and during the day the 'roos rested in the shade. Early morning and evening the hut was surrounded by grazing kangaroos and I had to thread my way though them to visit the outside loo. They paid me little heed.

I remember that holiday very fondly to this day. In the evening after eating we would sit outside, listening to our favourite tapes and gazing at the night sky. When you can get away from the light pollution of the city the southern sky is glorious to behold. We counted satellites passing overhead and I tried to teach Hubby to recognise a few stars and constellations. All he could manage was the Southern Cross and Orion, known colloquially Downunder as the Saucepan.

Yes, I would say the spelling and the English here is pretty good. That is except me! I used to teach high school English and I love to play around with words. I do use slang, maybe too much but generally, I do put quotation marks around some of my silly expressions. I suppose it's all part of my sense of humour. There you go "humor" in the US and "humour" here in the land of the Canucks. I think "Canucks" is short for Canadian, as least it is for me! I like to think that variety is the spice of life; makes life interesting. May your smile be your umbrella!

Well, we don't all have this benefit of University degree in English.

In my case I have to accept the spelling and grammar offered by my dictation software.

This forum is better than most in that members don't nit pick at you when you get it wrong.

Toleration is more important than grammar.

That's right, toleration is more important than grammar. If you are going to get excited or mad about somebody's grammar you need to get a life and realize that life is too short for such problems. You want real problems, go to Ukraine and fight Putin. Comparing someone's spelling to Putin's politics makes you see that some things just aren't much of a problem.

@Lanny, just an FYI, sometimes you can correct an error in your title, not all forums permit this. Not sure how many hours you get. It drives me crazy when I post something and hours later I see the wrong word or spelling.

I’ve become very dependent on Auto Correct for spelling. Even when I know I’ve reversed the letters, I just expect AC to fix it.

My biggest error is leaving words out and I don’t see them as missing, even when I do my rare proofreading
You mean like leaving out the little word "not"? :ROFLMAO: That can slightly change the intended meaning. I've done that a few times, and yes, most of the time my error is leaving out words, and when I edit I don't always see the missing word. Some times when I check my work days later, my words are so mixed up a person may think I got drunk before posting. :ROFLMAO: I see that and seriously worry about my brain.

Wow, that's awesome!

My wife and I plan to move to the Ozarks when I retire in a couple of years. We were visiting our land in December and saw 5 whitetail at a distance near the woods. When I raised my camera to take a picture they took off every which way at high speed. Seems they thought I was raising a gun to shoot at them. Made me feel a little sorry for them because we could hear far away gunfire that day.
I live in a city and we have squirrels and birds and rats and mice. :D We are not supposed to feed the wildlife, but some people feed them anyway. I really don't like that because when wild animals loose their fear of humans, they can get bold and damage property and attack humans. I stepped on a porch expecting a squirrel to run and it bit me! It had been hand-feed peanuts and was not going to let me pass without giving it a peanut. Now I no longer think squirrels are so cute.
