Well..thank you. Except today I used the expression "The Ukrainian soldiers ain't no joke", even though grammar police me knew that was incorrect. It's a known expression in my neck of the woods though.
It's those apostrophes, they are so possessive!Just now noticed that "Whose" is spelled wrong in the title of this thread.
I use the word from time to time. Somethings it just seems to fit.ain't
You have to know where and when to look. I live in Sydney so a kangaroo hopping across the Harbour Bridge is so unusual as to feature on the evening news. It has happened. Thanks Warrigal.
Yes, I live in tornado alley. Glad to say I've never been affected though (knock on wood). Average daily winter temperature around here is 50 degrees fahrenheit. If it gets up to 80 degrees on a winter day that's a big trouble sign.
Tell me, do you see kangaroos in the wild very often? From what I gather that's about as likely for an Australian as me seeing a whitetail deer in the wild here.
Maybe. Canada + Nanook.I think "Canucks" is short for Canadian, as least it is For me.
That's right, toleration is more important than grammar. If you are going to get excited or mad about somebody's grammar you need to get a life and realize that life is too short for such problems. You want real problems, go to Ukraine and fight Putin. Comparing someone's spelling to Putin's politics makes you see that some things just aren't much of a problem.Well, we don't all have this benefit of University degree in English.
In my case I have to accept the spelling and grammar offered by my dictation software.
This forum is better than most in that members don't nit pick at you when you get it wrong.
Toleration is more important than grammar.
Ain't that the truth!I use the word from time to time. Somethings it just seems to fit.
Wasn't there a movie called Nanook of the North? (Wow, where did that piece of trivia get stored in my brain?)Maybe. Canada + Nanook.
K rectWasn't there a movie called Nanook of the North?
I agree. Plus, "ain't" is a contraction of the words "am I not[?]", so its usage has gotten a bad rap IMO.I use the word from time to time. Somethings it just seems to fit.
You mean like leaving out the little word "not"?@Lanny, just an FYI, sometimes you can correct an error in your title, not all forums permit this. Not sure how many hours you get. It drives me crazy when I post something and hours later I see the wrong word or spelling.
Iāve become very dependent on Auto Correct for spelling. Even when I know Iāve reversed the letters, I just expect AC to fix it.
My biggest error is leaving words out and I donāt see them as missing, even when I do my rare proofreading
I live in a city and we have squirrels and birds and rats and mice.Wow, that's awesome!
My wife and I plan to move to the Ozarks when I retire in a couple of years. We were visiting our land in December and saw 5 whitetail at a distance near the woods. When I raised my camera to take a picture they took off every which way at high speed. Seems they thought I was raising a gun to shoot at them. Made me feel a little sorry for them because we could hear far away gunfire that day.
