i've done something, you haven't done!

I tried to reach the summit of Mt Kilimanjaro in Tanzania but I failed miserably. I wanted to give that name to my kid but his dad protested :(
If only you'd got to the top your dear son might have been called Mount Kilimanjaro, (and/or hubby acceded?)?
You don't think the boy might have become a target in school perhaps?
A guy from my village didn't make it up the same mountain either, due to some illness, but went back a year later and did succeed, (his surname is "Pike" btw, the name given to peaks in our Lake District funnily enough!).

Been;
shot
stabbed
jailed
knocked out

Came in on a dead stick landing in a '48 trainer tail dragger

Rode the rails throughout the west

Damn near got offed in Mexico when looking for my buddy

...other things I don't care to remember

Then I grew up, met my wife

Climbed to the top of kings canyon and did the 6 km rim walk when I was 60
It was a hard 100 mtr climb / walk to get to the top

Its about 300 km between both places

We also visited what’s now known as Uluru however we always knew it as Ayers Rock
however in respect of the traditional owners who request no climbing of the rock we just did the walk around the base 10 km ( a few days before Kings Canyon )
Both are in Northern Territory about 450 km from any major towns

I’ve got photos on my old laptop of the walks

I managed to convince an architect to move the site of a proposed building by ten metres, and he quickly saw the benefits of doing so, (my manager was a bit surprised at my temerity, but all were pleased enough when the alteration to the plans saved construction costs too. :)).
