January 2020... Share your Day... Happy New Years Everyone...

Yesterday my wife had eye exam. Everything good. The 29th she gets other eye done. Just as we left the house it started to pour. Got a wee bit wet. Today looks like a quiet day, although my wife mentioned getting new sheets for the bed.
Oh, I forgot...yesterday we have a photographer at our clubhouse and we had our pictures taken together. First time since our wedding, 63 years ago. Almost passed out when I heard the prices, but I know our kids will enjoy them.

I had eye surgery at 7:45 this morning. Very interesting as I was pretty much awake (but a bit fuzzy) throughout the 45-minute surgery and conversed with the surgeon about the procedure while he was doing it.

I was quite nervous but the surgeon said it went well with no more damage to the retina. Big question is if the retina will return to its original condition now that the epirentinal membrane has been removed. They went in through the back of the eyeball, deflated the eyeball, worked on the retina and then refilled the eyeball.

I'm all bandaged up and will go back tomorrow for bandage removal and evaluation.

All-in-all, nowhere as bad as I feared it was going to be.

Good Morning Everyone...
Just realized a month ago today was Christmas, seems like a lot longer than a month... But that's all it's been... So haven't been around for a bit... Feeling better, but still deep in the winter blues... Just don't do well in the winter...

Well, it's been 3 weeks since my last smoke... Gave that up for some reason, not sure why, but it's done...
The Ozempa I started pretty well 12 weeks ago is doing magic for diabetes, Have had NO sugar highs, or lows, almost feels like I don't have diabetes anymore... Feel pretty good...

Still working on the kitchen wall, well where I took the wall out... it's coming, should be done soon...

Finally over the Scabies, but both of my arms are a mess... but clearing up slowly but surely...

Well, I think we are all caught up for the month... I hope YOU all have a GREAT day... Preparing for a yucky snowy day here... Think the Grandson is coming for a visit, so that will be LOTS of fun... God Bless YOU all...
Mike

3 weeks smoke free? Congratulations are in order! 🤩🥳😛!

Lots of us get depressed in the shortened days of winter. I hope you'll consider getting a light therapy box. Typically the recommended intensity of light is 10,000 lux.

Have fun with the grandson!

HI Mike, glad your back with us and feeling better
I know how difficult it can be to quit smoking
I started at age 13 never a 'heavy smoker',took me 2-3 days to finish a pack.I stopped when a pack was $1,the nicotine patch/gum weren't on the market yet. After I quit,I always had to have something in my hand, usually a pencil/pen.I know you will 'kick the habit',think of all the extra money you'll have to spend on your grandkids

G'day again.... Hmmmmm don't hear from me for weeks, and then twice in what day... Whut up with that... Well had a full day with the Grandson... He's getting very good at his talking, a little better each and everyday... Always make me smile when I can spend time with him...

The smoking, just gave it up, no aids... just one day I think January 2nd, or 3rd, just stopped smoking... Never bugged me this time... It's weird... I've quit lots of times, and usually count the days by days, but not this time... quit once for a year... hope to make it further then that, time will tell...

Well, just wanted to step in and say hi... Going to go and watch the All stars hockey, started 6 minutes ago...

Hope YOU all have a GREAT night, and God Bless YOU all...
Mike

hi @mike4lorie Good on you for giving up the smokes..I have done it, too, and come to think of it it's been a year..I didn't count either and just realized it was in Jan. of 2019. I don't miss them or the yucky smell! My lungs are happier and yours will be, too.

Didn't do a whole lot today but went for a short walk with my dear doggy. Watched some tv, and a movie, and listening to spotify music.

Had chicken, brown rice and green beans for dinner. My blood sugar readings have been good..actually they have usually been since I was diagnosed. My A1C was good last time and the time before. I'm hearing on tv it should be below 7. Mine has been 5.7 which is very good especially with diabetes. I'm having one salad every day with lots of baby spinach, cauliflower and balsamic vinegar and olive oil. I have lost about 20 pounds and still need to lose more. Now to get myself to exercise..I'm sorry but "exercise" almost seems like a dirty word to me! Got to change how I look at it and get to it...

My dog and birds are doing well. And I'm doing alright, too. The only thing that seems to get me at times is the Winter SAD. The gray skies do it. But I do things to counteract it.

Good Evening Kids...
Well, it was a wasted day today, still snowing from last night. Should go out and attempt to do some shovelling, but still thinking of that one...

Worked on my Firestick all day, read and watched YOUtube on how to put an external USB 3.0 on the Firestick for more memory... I got is so it recognizes the 2 TB Hard drive 3.0, but can't figure out how to put the programs on it... anyone here done this yet?

Well, Kids, I hope YOU all have a GREAT evening... God Bless YOU all
Mike

@mike4lorie You may want to ask your question on the Computers, etc. forum here. People have been great about answering all my questions on there.

Today is one of my volunteer mornings{Tues is the other} at Canopy of Neighbors, calling other members for friendly hello, tell them about upcoming events
3 weeks ago,I started going to PT for my knee most of my appts have been on Tues.Last Mon office was closed for MLK holiday. It will be great to be in the office 1 day/wk until I'm done with PT

It was great being back in the Canopy of Neighbors office yesterday
I was able to talk/leave messages to all the members on my list.I had time to do the filing which was piling up,2 hrs later I left
One of the great things I like about being a volunteer/member at CON,if you need to go to dr appts, grocery shopping, events at Canopy, etc we have a dedicated volunteer driver pool. The driver will take the member wherever they are going, pick them up if necessary, you have to let the office know a week in advance .All my PT appts I've had CON driver, a couple people I've never met before, like this morning when I go.Kristina became a volunteer driver 3 weeks ago
This afternoon will try and get a walk in if I'm not too tired from PT

It's 1.30pm..I've cleared up upstairs, emptied all the waste bins and put the wheelie bin out for collection...

Made porridge for my brunch.. ( don't eat breakfast)...cleaned the bathrooms and refilled the soap dispensers.. .cleaned the kitchen floor

Got the washing machine on...

Chatted a bit on here.. chatted with my hubs, and daughter on whatsapp, ...listened to some music while doing the chores.. spent a few minutes in the garden because the sun is shining, and brushed up some moss...

I'd love to go out but I'm waiting for a delivery and there's no tracking info for it, except that it's coming some time today... ..so thus far dear friends this has been my fascinating morning, I bet you're gripped to the edge of your seats waiting for the next episode..:ROFLMAO:

Good Morning Ladies, Gents...

Well, we all know what today is eh... (LoL)... But we won't go there...

Yesterday before breakfast, I took the truck in for an oil change and tire rotation, but they only had to do the passenger side because they did the drivers side last week when I asked them to fix my rims, cuz they were leaking, and I was tired of filling every 2nd or 3rd of the week... Anyways, yup. took the truck in for an oil change yesterday, and then only met one Buddy for breakfast, cuz they other 2 lads were sick of sumthin...

I came home but I was very tired, cuz I was up all night before... I was supposed to do my online course last night that my diabetic doctor and office put on every Tuesday or Wednesday night. This course was about losing weight and keeping our hearts healthy. I could not keep my eyes open long enough...

This morning I was supposed to get my blood test for next Wednesday but decided I will do it tomorrow. I will drop Lorie off at the Daughters to get the Grandson ready, I will zip out, get my blood test, and then come back, and pick up Lorie and the Grandson, and come back to our place.

Think I might do some work in the kitchen today.

Well Ladies, Gents... I think that is yesterday, and today in a nutshell! I hope YOU all have a wonderful day... and God Bless YOU all...

Today I got a parcel delivered from Ebay ( new item) 2 days later than it's supposed due date, box bashed to bits, and torn, and contents completely damaged. Had to contact the seller, who has arranged for it to be collected tomorrow but sadly no more in stock..very annoying. This is one of the reasons after being a buyer and seller on Ebay for decades that I stopped, because everything seemed to be inferior quality or inferior service..and now I buy mainly on Amazon.. I would have bought this particular item on the latter site if they'd had it in stock , very annoying .

Got notice today that I have to see a consultant on Monday morning at our local Private hospital which means I don't have to wait for months for the NHS appointment which keeps being changed, it means paying out of pocket, but hey I have little choice.

Now, I'm about to go out with o/h to the next large town , and run some errands... and have some late lunch at the pub...
