.. and volcanic eruptions are not fun either..To tell the truth I'm glad we don't have seasonal flooding and highly damaging wind like tornadoes and hurricanes.

Would this be near "Grapevine, CA", @Nathan ? There are more than 40 listed for Grapevine on the usgs page for just the last few hours... along with a couple of other CA locations... Walker, Maricopa, Dustin Acres, Lamont, Mettler. I take it those are all places on the same faultline?A 5.2 in Kern County with several aftershocks. Didn't feel it here, was in bed asleep.
The San Andreas fault runs N and S and is parallel to the I-5 freeway, of which The Grapevine is a section, just into Kern County. The news this morning showed a big boulder that had rolled onto the freeway, presumably due to the quake.Would this be near "Grapevine, CA", @Nathan ? Hi @OneEyedDiva , thank you, we are 70 miles from L.A. and didn't feel that quake.Did you feel the L.A. quake yesterday Nathan? A friend of mine lives about nine miles outside of L.A. and she felt it. So did some of her FB friends who live in Cali. They said it felt like a stronger magnitude than what was reported. I hope you and yours are alright.
A 7.0 apparently including a volcano erruption. There has been a big earthquake in Russia apparently, I wonder why the BBC are not reporting it?
