JUST HEARD McDONALDS ARE HOME DELIVERING

With all the obesity in Australia it's the last thing we need is for these people who are addicted to McDonalds, what about more healthier food companies delivering to homes.:eek:mg:

Wow, that's a scary thought. I'm sure there's a minimum order (probably more than the average order at the shop) and a delivery charge tacked on.

Now the jumbos don't even have to leave their recliners. :(

Greasy poison delivered right to your door, thought that was 'only in America'.

Maybe they'll use drones. They could bomb a Big Mac in from 20ft and it would look much the same as it usually does across the counter.

So true. I like comparing their advertising photos with the real thing (or at least I used to). All the glycerin they put on the fillings to keep it looking moist under those hot studio lights ... the food fluffers, I call 'em - folks who specialize in "posing" food to look scrumptious.

What a way to make a living.

 I am picturing them delivering an order of 650 cheese burgers and chips to the local primary school for their mufti day. Good luck.

Actually for some festive days at the high school where I worked we used to place orders with Pizza Hut for individual small pizzas and once when we has a medieval day we ordered over 1000 chicken drumsticks from Red Rooster. It was a logistical challenge to deliver them all hot and on time.

I'm glad I can't get that here...unfortunately, I do like their breakfast sandwiches....try not to think what's in them or how they're made, tho. Probably a good thing we moved here since we used to live near one of their fast food places, and Subway.

I've heard of Pizzas being delivered by freight trains on the Blue Mtns line so anything's possible. When one was ready to go a station assistant was sent out to buy a batch and the the train would take off with the orders from stations down the track. They'd be kept warm on a rack over the heater in the van (caboose) and money and pizzas would change hands on unscheduled 'slow downs.'
They were very welcome on cold nights up there.

McDonalds nor any other food chain is making people Fat. Sheesh, people who want to eat to obesity can find plenty of stuff in the grocery store.

Ain't that the truth! I don't see how delivering a hamburger is any worse than pizza or Chinese. Where I live they don't deliver nuthin, but we can still get fat if we want to.

The problem with places like McD's is that their food is excessively fattening as compared to a pizza or Chinese food.

A Big Mac has 550 calories, 260 of which are from fat. That's 29 grams of fat.

One slice of Pizza Hut cheese pizza (from a large pie) has 260 calories, of which 100 are from fat. That's 11 grams of fat.

So you'd need to eat 2-1/2 slices of pizza to equal one Big Mac. OK. Most people will eat at least 2 slices.

But then you have the fries ...

Large-sized fries (does anyone order small?) - 500 calories, 220 from fat, 25 grams of fat. Almost the same as the Big Mac.

So to equal a Big Mac and large fries you'd need to eat 5 slices of pizza.

Chinese food? Well, that's such a variable depending upon what you eat and how they make it. Most American "Chinese" restaurants are far from authentic Chinese cooking. But yes, if you're crazy enough to order the stuff it's probably on a par with the fast-food places.

It isn't that you cannot get fat from the grocery store; it's just that it requires some effort, an effort that is absent from having food delivered. So if you're going to order-in, why not order a healthy dish from a decent restaurant rather than the crap they pass off as "food" at McD's? It's as much an issue of quality as it is the number of calories and grams of fat.

To me, having McD's deliver would be like having my garbage-men leave garbage at my front door.

I have my pizza cut into fourths so I only have to eat four slices. :lofl:

Seriously though, McD has other things to offer. And so does Pizza Hut. I'm gettin' hungry.

Yeah, I know - I shouldn't talk, I can still eat a whole large pepperoni in one sitting.

They have other things to offer, but without doing research I couldn't say which one is most popular. I sort of suspect it's the one with a lot of fat and calories. I just can't picture the words "McDonald's" and "salad" next to each other, although I know they sell them.

I'm gettin' hungry too - we gotta' cut-out this food talk! :D

We used to get the large fries and share it; and got funny looks when we ordered a small drink. They push everything super-sized, and that's hardly necessary.

We have a Papa John's pizza delivered once a month or so. What would be a fair amount to tip? I usually do $2.50-$3.00.
Don't have Macs delivery and do not want it.

Me too. I give the delivery person five bucks. But, when I order it is around 40 bucks for the food. I had the last delivery guy tell me that I tipped better than most people. He said a lot of people put a cap on the tip, and that some that even ordered a great deal only still gave small tip. I figure the people that delivery Pizza don't get paid a lot, so I try to give a good tip.

I feel the same way about the delivery drivers - they usually deliver quickly to my place, so I usually tip $5 on a $25 order - that's just 20%, so I figure it's fair.
