I'm not new to message boards, but this seems to be one of its kind. I've been reading threads here for a few days and I'm really impressed with the variety of topics. I'm glad that political discussions aren't encouraged here. There's plenty of those out there if one needs to get their fill.

Whenever I've read the newspaper and some older (meaning over 60) person is involved, invariably they're characterized as "elderly'. Well, I don't believe in elderly. But I have to believe in "old" like it or not, though I still don't know what "old" is supposed to feel like. But I have decided that "old" starts at 70. And in about half a year I will be "old" Maybe then I'll start knowing what "old" feels like.

Anyway, I was recently in a new store at the shopping center where there was all these books titled "Things To Do When You Turn--and then it started with decades starting with 40, then 65 and all the way to 80. And when I saw the one for 70, I knew the universe was talking to me and saying, hey, girl, this is it. You've arrived. Now get with it.

Hi Olivia, nice to have you join us! When I was young I thought 50 was old, then when I turned 50, I figured 60 was old, now that's I'm midway to 70 I figure you're as old as you feel, and I won't complain....better than the alternative. :)

What area of the US do you live? I'm in New England. Sounds like you've had an interesting life so far. Have fun on the Forum.

Well, I was hoping not to be specific, but actually I live in Hawaii.

New England....I was a long-time e-mail buddy to someone who lived in Massachusetts and then built a log house in Maine and lives there now.

New England always reminds me of this song:

True how we look at things differently as time goes by. When I was 40, I thought how I could never date a guy over 50. And now I really appreciate maturity in a man. And I secretly ogle those same men I thought were so old. Lol

Hi Olivia

Welcome-Twinkling-Picture.gif from London England ...I'm in my early 60's... but I know what you mean about those books, I used to see them in the library all the time, I remember reading one when I was 40 and thinking I was old ... now my daughter is older than that.. and she's soo young lol
