The Duke of Edinburgh is in St Helena!

"HRH was welcomed to one of the most remote inhabited islands by Jonathan the Tortoise, who, at 191 years old, is the oldest living land animal in the world!"

"Edward last week spent four days on the remote British overseas territory of Saint Helena, some 2,000 kilometres (1,200 miles) west of Angola."

"He inaugurated a new international airport, planted a tree and met 191-year-old Jonathan, the volcanic tropical island's resident giant tortoise."

"Charles, 75, and his wife waved before getting into a car to head home for a period of rest. It's not been confirmed which royal residence Their Majestys were heading to, but the monarchs likely headed to Gloucestershire to theircountryside abode, Highgrove House."

"The royal residence has long been a favourite of his for decades now. It previously served as the ideal weekend home for the King and his two sons, Prince William and Prince Harry, when the boys were young children."

King Charles Leaves Hospital After Extended Stay Caused Royal ‘Unease’

"The 75-year-old sovereign has rescheduled a series of upcoming public engagements to “allow for a period of private recuperation,” Buckingham Palace said in a statement. “His Majesty would like to thank the medical team and all those involved in supporting his hospital visit, and is grateful for all the kind messages he has received in recent days.”

"Doctors’ decision to keep Charles in hospital for a third night after his prostate procedure had sparked “unease” because he was only due to stay in hospital for two nights, an insider said."

"Speaking to the Sun, a source said: “It is understood that Charles would only stay in hospital for longer than two nights if there was some kind of unexpected issue. “The extra stay is entirely precautionary but has nevertheless reportedly caused some unease.”

"The source added that Charles could remain out of public view for longer than anticipated, saying: “It’s now expected Charles will have to avoid public jobs for at least a month on medical advice. But knowing the king, he will try to keep some private audiences and insist on keeping on top of his paperwork.”

King Charles backs 'inspiring' Big Help Out as he recovers at home after hospital treatment

King Charles, 75, is backing the Big Help Out - a volunteering awareness charity (PA)

"King Charles has put his backing behind the Big Help Out for 2024 in his first statement since leaving The London Clinic, where he was being treated for an enlarged prostate."

"His message, which was signed Charles R, was written before he underwent treatment for his benign condition, and was read out by his communications secretary Tobyn Andreae at a launch event at the Royal Geographical Society on Tuesday evening. Around seven million people volunteered during the first Big Help Out which formed part of the coronation celebrations last May. The Prince and Princess of Wales and their children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis lent a hand renovating a Scout hut and its grounds in Slough."

"To mark the launch of the second Big Help Out, which will be staged over three days from Friday June 7 to Sunday June 9, The King said: “I have long believed that one of the greatest strengths of our nation is our ability to come together and help each other through times of hardship."

Interesting. If I could ask, why "Charles R"?

Probably everyone knows this except me.
"You see, the Queen used to sign with ‘Elizabeth R’ on official documents, with the ‘R’ standing for ‘regina’, the Latin word for ‘queen’."

"As explained by the Press Association: “Before it was simply 'Charles'. Now it will be the name he has taken as King with an additional R for Rex – Latin for King – at the end."

Here's a nice story from the Coronation, that I missed......

King Charles And Queen Camilla Plan Trip To Australia
iu

"Harry's visit to check on Charles comes as the King resumes plans to visit Australia with Camilla in October this year. While the cancer diagnosis has forced the monarch to pause many of his upcoming engagements, it seems that Charles is determined to make the trip."

"The visit is supposed to happen around the same time as the Commonwealth heads of government meeting in Samoa. It was first confirmed in early January by Anthony Albanese, the prime Minister of Australia, and will be the first by a ruling monarch since Queen Elizabeth II's visit in 2011."

"A source spoke about the resumption of plans for the trip to The Telegraph. They said, "We continue planning, but we're not at any stage to confirm timing or dates because it's the first week of the King's treatment. It certainly remains the case that he's hopeful it will go ahead."

"While King Charles steps back from public royal duties amid his cancer treatment, Queen Camilla is keeping a busy schedule of outings."

"King Charles, 75, and Queen Camilla, 76, traveled from their country residence in Sandringham back to London on Tuesday. The King received cancer treatment in the city and undertook meetings with palace staff, while the Queen had a special event take place at Clarence House, the couple's longtime home in the capital."

"Queen Camilla was installed as an Honorary Liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Fan Makers. During the ceremony, she was clothed in a robe by the Master Fan Maker and presented with a fan designed by Stewart Parvin M.V.O., commissioned in 2020 to mark the impact of COVID-19 on so many lives."

Buckingham Palace stated any books speculating about the King's diagnosis and treatment are "intrusive, insensitive and filled with inaccuracies".

"The Palace added that the Royal Family's legal team will be "looking at the issue closely". The books speculated about which type of cancer King Charles was diagnosed with, despite the King not stating publicly which type of cancer he has. A spokesman for Buckingham Palace urged any "organisations facilitating their sale to withdraw them immediately". Amazon confirmed it has removed the titles that "violated our content guidelines".

"It looks like Prince William is starting to run the show now that his father, King Charles, has been diagnosed with cancer, an insider revealed."

“He’s taken more control at the palace, staying in constant contact with Charles’ aides,” said the source. “He’s basically the Firm’s point man right now.”

"William, 41, and his aunt Princess Anne have added more engagements to their diaries that Charles, 75, is unable to attend."

"The dad-of-three “has tended toward less of the day-to-day routine work of the monarchy, compared to his father, instead focusing on bigger, glitzier engagements,” said royal historian Ed Owens. “But now he’ll be expected to fill in on many of these more mundane public outings.”

King Charles told Prince William to 'spend more time with family' in telling royal message

King Charles reportedly told Prince William to savor spending time with his wife and children because he will be spending 'years and years' fulfilling his royal duties.

And it may be that the Prince of Wales, 41, would have to take on the main duties earlier than expected if King Charles' health deteriorates. In which case, his father has reminded him of the importance of spending time with his family, according to author Ingrid Seward, who has written a book on the monarch's upbringing 'My Mother and I'.

"Charles always put duty first because that's what his mother did. And that's what [King Charles' first wife Princess] Diana decided she wouldn't do," Seward told HELLO! magazine.

I think Charles has encouraged William to spend more time with the family and also said to William, 'I don't want you to take on any royal duties until you absolutely have to', because you remember we criticized William the work-shy?

"When his wife Kate Middleton was forced to undergo surgery to her abdomen in January, William had to step in and make arrangements for the family. That meant canceling her duties and postponing his own commitments, as he looked after the couple's three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis."

"Kate has been recovering from the surgery and is not expected to return to royal duties until after Easter. It means William has been more busy than usual in taking care of their children, as well as ensuring his wife is as comfortable as possible. And it seems to have worked well as she joined the family for a trip to Norfolk during half-term week in February, with the Princess said to be making good progress in her recovery."

"King Charles III has approved changes to the way legislation is granted Royal Assent in the Bailiwick of Guernsey. It means the introduction of legislation can be expedited through the granting of Royal Assent by His Excellency the Lieutenant-Governor.

"The new process will take effect from 29 February, the States of Guernsey said. The States said the new procedure should result in faster processing of primary legislation."
