"He is the royal burgh's standard bearer and carried out the traditional casting of the colours at its common riding last month.
And on Thursday he delivered a repeat performance for the royal couple.
Large crowds turned out to get a glimpse of the King and Queen as they toured the Scottish Borders."

"Laura Kibble, of Camerons Bakery, also met the royal party and said she was "quite chuffed" to have done so."
"The King came along and our son presented him with a Selkirk bannock," she said.
"He was just chatting and asking what ingredients were inside.
"I didn't know what to expect first thing this morning - but it is so lovely to see so many out."

"Colin Turnbull, who runs a shoe repair business, took the opportunity to thank the King for an opportunity he was offered more than 15 years ago."

"He was just asking about the type of work I do and I was telling him it is all traditional," he said.
"But also I cheekily had the chance to thank him because if it wasn't for the Prince's Scottish Youth Business Trust back in 2007 I wouldn't be here.
"We just talked about work, what I do. He was really down to earth."

"It is the perfect solution for those seeking a palatial residence... for their pampered poultry. But to keep hens in such royal luxury, you must be prepared to shell out an eye-watering £3,750."

"This hen house is being sold by Prince Charles’s Highgrove estate in Gloucestershire and is inspired by the birds he keeps there. The made-to-order Highgrove Hen House is built using Forest Stewardship Council-certified timber, which means it was sourced from a responsibly managed forest, and decorated with eggshell blue water-based paint."

"The roof is natural cedar, the wheels are cast iron and other fixtures are in galvanised steel. Each house sleeps four to eight chickens and features two nest boxes, adjustable perches and stable-style doors."

"Made by Wildlife World, a Gloucestershire firm, the hen houses are being sold on the Highgrove website which describes the design as ‘unique and innovative’." Read More

King Charles III embraces eco-friendly garden trend

"A passionate and dedicated gardener, King Charles III is absolutely our most green-fingered (and eco-friendly) monarch to date. It makes sense, then, that the head of the royal family has brought a whole host of new and exciting garden ideas to the estate at Sandringham."

"In fact, he's made a point of giving the topiary garden at his Norfolk Home a complete overhaul – and tackled one of this year's biggest garden trends in the process. That's right: the topiary garden at Sandringham has now been unveiled to members of the public after five months of renovations."

"In 2012, King Charles III, then still a prince, had himself explained how to drive a train on the London Underground – now he is allowed to make the safety announcements in the “Tube” and at other stations in Great Britain for one weekend."

"It will be a poignant day, tinged with sadness and The King will spend the first anniversary of his accession to the throne privately. His Majesty will pass the day in Aberdeenshire. His base there, Birkhall, is on the Balmoral estate. Queen Elizabeth II died in the main house at Balmoral."

Buckingham Palace says King Charles will mark the moment ”quietly and privately”.

"The King took the throne on September 8th 2022 on the death of Queen Elizabeth II. His Majesty was at Balmoral when Her Late Majesty passed away there at 3.10pm. His reign began at that very moment. King Charles is following the example of his late mother who always spent the anniversary of her own accession privately. Elizabeth II passed the anniversary, February 6th, at Sandringham, the place where her own father, George VI, died."

"It’s also been confirmed that there will be no public memorial event for Queen Elizabeth II on the anniversary of her death. However, a permanent national memorial for Her Late Majesty will be created in due course."

Kate Middleton ‘tipped to take over senior role’ from King Charles at royal club

"Senior figures at The Royal Thames Yacht Club are reportedly hoping that Kate Middleton might be willing to take over an important role from her father-in-law, King Charles III. The Knightsbridge-based club includes Lord Mountbatten and Prince Philip among its former royal patrons."

"Earlier this week, the yacht club hosted a new event on the Isle of Wight, titled “Women Who Rock the Boat”, in an effort to encourage women to take up sailing. According to the Daily Mail’s Diary Editor Richard Eden, a senior member of the club said Kate would be a “great role model” were she to take on a position."

"The Princess of Wales is a noted sailing enthusiast. Last year, she joined the Team GB sailing team in Plymouth for a friendly race against New Zealand. In 2019, she accompanied her husband, Prince William, with their children Princess Charlotte and Prince George, to the charity King’s Cup regatta on the Isle of Wight."

“The trouble is, royal protocol dictates that it's up to her and the Royal Family to make the first move,” the Royal Thames Yacht Club member reportedly said. This means that the Palace would need to approach the club and discuss the prospect of Kate taking on the role of commodore."

"King Charles III started the summer holidays, with whisky and wetness joining him as companions on his break. Just a few miles away from the Castle of Mey, the former home of Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother and a favourite summer spot for His Majesty, the King officially opened 8 Doors whisky distillery in the coastal village of John o’ Groats. The distillery is the most northern one in the whole of the UK, located just a short walk away from the North Sea. Though the weather was rainy, the King was all smiles as he was shown around."

The catastrophic fire tearing through Maui, Hawaii, has now become the deadliest wildfire in modern U.S. history, catching the attention of the world and its leaders, including King Charles III.

The monarch shared a personally-signed message to Instagram on Saturday, August 12, where he sent his condolences to U.S. President Biden and the people of Hawaii.

The portion shared to Instagram was just an excerpt of the entire message, which was posted on the official royal family website here.

In his note, King Charles wrote:

Dear Mr. President, my wife and I were utterly horrified to hear of the catastrophic wildfires currently burning in Maui, Hawai'i. We can only begin to imagine the scale of the devastation engulfing the island, and the heartrending anguish of those whose livelihoods have been so disastrously affected.”

The monarch continued by offering his “deepest possible sympathy” to the families of those who have lost their lives in the fires, as well as any others affected by the disaster. He closed by writing, “As the recovery effort continues, my special thoughts are with the extraordinarily brave emergency responders and Maui residents who are providing their support and assistance.”
