While living in South Australia, I visited a few people who had original retro kichens. They were beautiful.

I think kitchens should reflect the house style.

The house my SIL lived in was built in the mid-60s & everything in there was still original. We rehabbed the kitchen last spring with new clear coated natural hickory cabinets which was the same color as the old cabinets were when new. White tile on the backsplash & a light green on the walls. Funny thing I found out that the green I picked out almost matched the original green I found behind the outlet plates when I took them down.

The lady who bought the house from us said she fell in love with the kitchen & knew she wanted it.

I gave away all my cast iron pans and glass baking pans as they just became too heavy. I was afraid I would drop one full of food and with 2 tiny Maltese around they could be hurt or killed if it fell on them.

I'm looking for new paint colors in my kitchen. The darker of the green is close to what I like for my cabinets. The wood bead board will be painted beige & the drywall will remain white. I already have med. gray slate tiles. Won't be starting this until summer.

Gray slate tiles will be perfect!. Oh, I love green! Your pallet sounds great.

I am quite fond of the 1950's kitchen and dining room. With a jukebox. But for some reason, the photos I like, I am not able to upload them. It has a Coca-Cola theme to it.

We got some samples yesterday to start......starting.
On the Lowes site you can do a kitchen style quiz of your preferences of style, color, etc. It actually worked well and took into account our taste.
They also have virtual design consultant....not ready, and a Kitchen Visualizer. I didn't like that as much. Not enough choices on some things to work with.
We are not doing a remodel, just an update. Here's what came out of the quiz. I like it.

I really am quite fond of this photo, as it's quite nostalgic. Besides being red, which happens to be one of my favorite colors, I've always been fascinated with the 1950's era.
