Landline or Cell Phone?

Do you have a hard-wired telephone, or have you gone over to a cell phone? Why?

Or do you have both? Or neither? Again, why?

My I Phone is my main phone because of my Profound hearing loss it is the only phone where I can hear fairly well. It will stream calls directly to my hearing aids.

We just gave up our landline a few weeks ago.. Too many telemarketers.. and it seemed that those were the only calls we were getting on it.. so.. buh bye..

I have a house phone, not a landline because it plugs in and not connected to a wire coming from outside. And a cell phone. I have both because my kids are afraid i'll die and not be able to reach anyone :D

Landline and cheap old cell phone just for emergencies if I'm out and about, or need to contact my husband. Not a big phone chatterer, but when I do make a call to someone, I prefer to use my home phone. Plan to always have both.

Cell, but sometimes I miss landline type of phones, I always seem to misplace my cell phones as I never carry them from room to room till I need to make a call and often, I rarely remember where I dropped after the previous conversation so by the time I get to it when it rings, the call goes to call service.

I have both. I need a landline for mu community alarm at home and a smartphone for out and about.

However, I doubt if I make more than three calls a month, and two of them are to order pizza!

A £10 ($15) credit lasts me three months!

Landline bundled with TV & internet (COX cable)

It's only $9/mo. The phone. It's a V-Tech and has the answering machine + three wireless extensions scattered throughout the house.

I've always had a Virgin cell phone on its charger but only turn it on when I leave the house and take it with me.

We have both...a landline with unlimited long distance calling, and a basic TracFone that we turn on when we leave the house. The cell phone receives minimum use, and we just keep it active in case of needing to place a call, or the kids needing to get in touch, when we are out.

We have both ..our home phone is incoming calls only so it costs us nothing . However we can still make emergency calls from Landline and make calls using a prepaid phone away card.
We both have a mobile ,hubby only carries his if we happen to be going our seperate ways when in the city,it's handy to arrange a meeting place.

I have a landline to which my answering machine always answers. Why? cause they are 90% telemarketers that call it. My family and friends reach me via my cell phone. I keep the landline only because if there is say an earthquake. I am hoping the landline will still work as the cell phones might not. There are days when I question my logic paying for both though lol

We have a landline because where we live it's our only choice for internet. We both have android mobile phones. If I need to give out my phone number I normally give my mobile number not our landline.

We both have cell phones, and still have a landline, for no real good reason. I'd love to get rid of it, wife doesn't....

I have both a landline and a cell. I don't give out my cell number to hardly anybody, as I don't want everybody and their brother calling me while I'm out and about. The point of my cell phone is mostly for me to have a way to call out when I'm out and about -- like if I need to call triple A or something. It costs me very little, as I have a prepaid T-mobile phone and I only pay for minutes when I need to add them -- no monthly charge.

I will not give up my landline. I feel it is safer in a way because I have heard people talking on their cell phones when I am on the phone. I heard a neighbors conversation with a friend ,so if I had a cell phone I would be concerned about my privacy. My husband does have a cell phone for when he goes out.

On the subject of giving phone numbers, only my son has my mobile number (and he's never called it once in his life!) and I have a filtering device on my landline, and only 39 numbers in the whole world, and that includes every cellphone in the world, can call me direct. Those include my emergency "I'm Down" responders, my regular hospital clinic, doctor, dentist and the aforementioned son. All others are asked to leave a message.

Bought five phones in a package so I don't have to "rush" to answer a call. Most calls are solicitors but my phones "speak" to me telling me who is calling or a number; thus, screening my calls for me, and big lighted buttons with speakerphone make them ideal for waiting for tech support from companies like Apple or Verizon. The package came from AT&T on sale as everyone is going to cellphones. I am going to get a cheap cell phone for emergencies and power outages like we just had...

When my husband and I moved to where we are now we had just finished a two year contract with landline phone and high speed internet. We also had a cellular phone that we just bought prepaid minutes for and used when traveling. I did some research for the best price on a phone and internet service in our new home and it was ridiculous. So I checked into cellular service and that seemed ridiculous too until I checked with the Service which we had with our prepaid cell phone for travel. Now we have two flip open cellular phones with a plan that works for us for the same price we would have paid just for a landline phone. I wasn't sure if this would work out at first but it has been working just fine for us.
