Liz Truss Resigns

Or, is it just the members of the Parliament, that are of that Party, who vote on this @hollydolly ?
No it is the Conservative party members as a whole, roughly 180,000 people.. who will initially vote ... for the person to lead the party... .. each party member will need to gain a minimum of 100 votes to be able to progress to the next stage. Once they've whittled it down to 2.. then the Parliamentary MP's only, get to Ballot

princess Anne couldn't run the country... not that Boris was great at it.. but hey... :sneaky:
Like the sayings go..."You know what you got but you never know what you're gonna get" and "Stick with the evil you know". HD, besides the all telling giving the uber rich tax breaks (and not the hard working people who need it most) what other flaws did she have that made her so unfit? Wasn't following closely so I can't even venture to guess.

oh Diva.. I can't go into that, I'll break all the No Politics rules of the forum... but trust me she's cost the ordinary person.. hundreds if not thousands of pounds going forward..particularly everyone with a Mortgage, and many people on benefits.... In a Nutshell she undone 10 years of work by the party... in just 40 days.....I'm sure you'd be able to find more information online... save me getting my hands slapped.. :D

Thank you for responding. I guess I will have to check some online sources.

Thank you for those very good, explanatory posts, @hollydolly
That one about the entire Party voting, and a wittling down process, was so informative, and I had repeatedly wondered these things in the past about how it works there.

And it was an educational and entertaining Nutshell, you gave in another post, as well!☺️😁🤩🤓

I thought the Brits wanted to get Boris out of there. From over here, I can't tell which of the two is better (or worse). But it's good to know that the US is not the only country that has such a poor selection of leaders that the only consideration is which one isn't the worst.
Sadly this is true. All those who plotted to get rid of Johnson should have considered carefully who would replace him.

Heard on the news this morning that ..... Even though she had a mere 45 day reign ..... she filed for 'full' PM pension .

Any of our UK members know for sure ?

Breaking News... Boris has pulled out of the race for leadership of the Conservative Party...:oops:

*yikes*... looks like we're going to end up with Rishi.. Sunak.. :(
I saw the same thing Hols. Just when I thought things couldn't get any worse for the world. My condolences.

Off topic. Is that a boot scrape on the doorstep? Not what one would normally expect at Prime Minister’s door.
Had to look it up, but the house was built in 1735, so I assume that many very old things remain in the building. You have a better eye than I do. I was just dazzled by the pretty kitty being petted. Plus boot scrapes that I've seen in the U.S. are just a straight iron scrape.

we have all different types here.. this is just a few.. also remember that 10 Downing Street was built in 1684.. so in those days the road would have been mud and people would have arrived by horse and cart..not even a carriage..
