Look down...What Do Your Shoes Say About You?

Skechers or Easy Spirit. Comfort comes first. I must be hard on shoes. Others look like they just took their sneakers out of the box. The white soles glow in the dark. I remember when if you wore clean white bucks others would step on them to give them a proper dirtying up. Mine are mostly black these days so no problem.

My lace up Skechers are black. I’ve had them for almost 3 years. They are super comfortable.

I have no idea what women mean by "flip flops" today. I picture some kind of Dollar Store beach footwear, all but disposable and probably stamped out of a sheet of some dense poly-foam.
I live where it's warm much of the year. Most girls and women in US warm weather areas have numerous pairs of very nice flip flop sandals. Don't know anyone around here who'd bother with dollar store junk because good brands are so long-wearing and comfortable.

I own two pairs of this high quality brand (Clarks), for instance. The strap is adjustable (velcro) and they literally last for years. Well padded, very comfortable, "cloudsteppers." $32.95 on sale, $55.00 regular price at Amazon. I wait for a sale.

I have them in this both of these colorways. Have worn the navy/red pair at least a few days a week for 2-1/2 years and they're still going strong. Bought the taupe pair with the cute flower 18 months ago and also wear them often. There are over 20 color choices for this brand alone.

Those Cloudsteppers really are comfy and good quality. I have a pair for indoors and a second pair for outdoors when I‘m not walking any distance. If there’s any serious walking I switch to runners. It says not to put my Nikes in the washer but I do and they’ve come out fine. I have a few pairs of runners.

In winter I switch to boots which start out nicely polished. They don’t look so spiffy after a couple of months of snow and slush.

What I don’t have any more is nice heels to wear with dresses. I get by with leather flats to keep my feet happy.

Oh my..I totally love to very good shoes..I am pedantic about making sure they look clean and well heeled before I will leave the house.

I have over 40 pairs of sandals shoes and boots, but I still work full time so I do have to have quite a few changes for every outfit/ but I love shoes anyway, particularly boots....but at home I don't wear anything on my feet at all .
I go barefoot around the house, too. When the weather gets cold, I have slipper socks or moccasins that I wear. For now, I own one pair of walking shoes, a pair of Clark's sandals, and a pair of sneakers.

You've quoted a very old post of mine.🤗

I'm no longer working, I've took retirement , and secondly about 6 or 8 months before I took retirement, and was really the cause of my retirement at 62 I got very painful Plantar Fasciitis caused mainly by working on my feet on concrete floors for up to 10 hours a day. .The pain was horrific, but my doctor told me that a lot of it is caused by wearing no shoes at home.He explained that people should never go barefoot , and should always wear a minimum 1/2 inch heel to prevent conditions like PF

Sketchers non-slip now. I don't know how I used to walk in New Westminster, BC in high heels. It is all hills and on top of that, they don't maintain the sidewalks on side streets so there are many cracks. The second time that I hurt my ankle, fractured it, rather than just a sprain as in the first time....I changed to flat non-slip shoes forever. I was around 58 years old at the time. I lost my temp job at that time and could not go back to work for 3months. And on top of that, my husband was laid off. We had to ask my brothers for financial help at that time. Together they gave us, not lent us, about $7000. Could not pay the mortgage, etc. at the time.

All l know is that flipflops are what are called slippers in Hawaii. There's a company now in Hawaii that sells Hawaii type slippers on Amazon. I recently bought a pair from them for $100. They're very comfortable with thick shearling. I wanted to buy a second pair but they squeaked on our ceramic tile so l decided notcto.

I like brogues. I always keep my shoes highly polished. Good navy training. :) Although, to be fair I mainly wear runners nowadays. Sneakers? As for the two tone coloured shoes shown earlier in this thread, they really are excellent. If only I went somewhere worthwhile to wear them. But as someone said, they must be very difficult to polish.

I was in New York City years ago, when shoe shine stands were a lot more common. A very young guy, or younger than us anyway, said to my friend, who happened to be wearing rather scuffed shoes, 'Hey man, you wanna be neat? Look at your feet!'

When it came to selling a service, I thought that was pretty good.

When I was in Maui a year ago, flip flops were the most commonly worn footwear on men and women. Can you give a link to the ones you're talking about with shearling? I'm curious.

We'd hoped to return to Maui or another HI island this February but my husband may have to deal with a health issue then so we're not comfortable booking anything. Which island do you live on?
