It's possible that you have Firefox set to open links in a new window. You can end up with a bunch of open Firefox windows even though only one session of Firefox is open.Need suggestions for a good browser. I've been using Firefox for a pretty long time, but often I get multiple versions open at the same time (using up space). I delete the 'extra' versions (from Explorer) but they just keep appearing. Anyone else have this problem? Thanks.
Someone ya talked to doesn't know jack about computers...lol.My laptop came with Microsoft Edge too & I soon chose Chrome. It is a lot better for me. Had it at home on a desktop but now have a laptop & it works fine. Someone had told me I had to use "Edge" on here, but proved them wrong.
I don't have extra tabs actually on the screen. Just see a Firefox starter page, as usual. However, when everything slows down and 'loading' just goes round and round, I go to "Task Manager" and see that there are a lot more Firefox open (like sometimes 6 or even 12!!) I close them all , but it happens pretty often. I just went to Task Manager and it said I have 6 Edge open and 27 )!!!) Firefox. No wonder it won't open. What's going on? Yikes. I read that this is not usual with FF. Think I'll try Duck Duck. Thanks. It's possible that you have Firefox set to open links in a new window. Try this,
Open Firefox,
In the address bar at the top of the page type "about: preferences" (don't type the quotation marks and don't leave the space between the colon and preferecnes). Click Enter

Scroll down to the "Tabs" section
Make sure you have a check mark in the box titled "Open links in tabs instead of new windows"
