I bought a new Ottoman bed base, larger than my current bed... and I've been searching for the last few weeks for the right mattress, still not found one yet, but while searching I cam across this one in one of our department stores...

Would anyone on here be prepared to pay this much for a Mattress? *yikes*...

I know ...absolutely astonishing price..I know it's covered in cashmere but I can't imagine how it could give you a better sleep than say a £700 one....

Wow Holly, no way I'd pay that much money even for the entire bed! :wow: The only people who sleep better because of that mattress are the ones whose bank accounts are growing from the sales. :p We buy new mattresses now and then and usually go with a good brand that's not too cheap or too pricey....that way if we really hate it, we won't feel so bad about getting a new one sooner than planned. Our best mattress years ago was a Serta, that's back when you could flip them over, etc. The edges stayed firm, no lumps or dips developed and the weight was nice and light for a king size mattress.

PS: even if someone is really wealthy and the price of the mattress is not an issue, there's no guarantee that they wouldn't tire of it, or sleep well on it. Maybe if it was guaranteed to please for life?

I think the more money we have, the more we "may" spend. But I have a 300 dollar bed that is so comfy for me. I also added a 2 in. memory foam with some sort of cooling system and I LOVE it because I get the hot-flashes still. You can just scoot over, or move your legs and arms around and nice, cool spots, yeehaw;)

I get a new one every year or so from our Senior Citizens thrift store.

I get one that's not too lumpy and has minimal stains, for about $15-$25.

Do they give you a discount for the bedbugs, or charge more for them;) I'm guessing you are joking. I buy some things from thriftstores, it fun for me, but I don't think so Hal

I am thinking about getting a new mattress. I've had mine for about almost 10 years but won't pay a lot. I think the Mattress Factory has the best prices; they make them right there and cut the price of the middle man and you get the savings.

I had a devil of a time replacing my mattress last year. I can't stand firm mattresses, and every store I went to gave me a choice of firm or extra-firm.

Finally found it online. Did lots of due diligence and got exactly what I wanted for a great price.

The hubby and I sleep in separate beds since my daughter got married. He snores like crazy , I like to read half the night and flip around like a fish out of water. Anyway, the mattress the hubby sleeps on is the one we got when we were first married,45 years ago! I turn it twice a year and vacuum it.I also have a thick mattress pad on it which I wash frequently. Once in awhile I'll go in there and take a nap and it is still the most comfortable mattress I've ever slept on. Although now it is made for one since he sleeps in the middle.
