Looking for exercise comparisons

I am looking to compare my exercise routines with other people, particularly anyone in the 70+ age range.
I have worked out in gyms for most of my adult life, but not to a high level. I've never looked to be a power lifter or body builder. Nobody would describe me as 'buff' or 'ripped'. I have a Golds Gym cable and weight home apparatus, which I have owned since the mid 90's. I had a Schwinn Airdyne exercise bike I bought used about 6 years ago, that finally broke about a year ago when I replaced it with a Schwinn IC4 bike.

That's the equipment I use. The routines I have developed for myself are as follows:-

Arm curls 20lbs x 10 reps
Situps 15 reps
Chest press 130lbs x 10 reps
Leg press 200lbs x 15 reps
Lat pull 90lbs x 10 reps
Leg extend 90lbs x 15 reps
Pec 28lbs x 10 reps
Leg curl 40lbs x 15 reps
Sidebends 60lbs x 15 reps
Triceps 60lbs x 10 reps

This is one set, I perform two sets of this routine every Thursday and Saturday.

I have three different routines I perform on the IC4, each is preceded by a gradual warm up and followed by a gradual recovery/cool down phase. On Monday it's an interval routine:-

One minute at level 28 @ 21mph followed by two minutes at level 21 @ 18mph. 6 cycles of this finishing with a seventh high level minute.

On Wednesday, it's a steady state routine:-

Level 25 @ 21mph for 20 minutes.

On Friday, it's another steady state routine, same as Wednesday but for 30 minutes.
I don't know how these routines would compare to other brands of exercise bike, maybe A.I. could help with that.
I log my total calories burned for each day and also my heart rate at various points of the recovery phase. A.I. helps with analysis of that.

I am interested to hear from other people, particularly any 70+, I am 72, who exercise regularly. Also anyone who uses an exercise bike in a similar manner.

Welcome! I am in awe of you!

I'm not there yet, but I'm 68 and work out at the gym 5 days a week. I typically take weekends off to let the muscles repair. I only use machines. I work out upper body every other day, with 120 lbs on chest, 100 lbs on shoulders and 80 lbs on traps. I switch to arms and legs every other day, with 90 lbs on bicep curls, 100 lbs on triceps and 160 lbs on legs.

I don't use an exercise bike. I either spend 30 minutes on the elliptical or the treadmill.

I'm not "buff" in any sense of the word, but I still have muscle tone that allows me to have strength and maintain my mobility.

I exercise every other day. Walk up to 6 miles a day. Wall push ups, calf lifts, walking backwards, squat thrusts. All of them around 30 reps. I use heavy things around me for weights. I don't see the need to pay to get in shape. Nature is full of stuff.

Thanks guys, I appreciate your responses.

Seadoug, "I still have muscle tone that allows me to have strength and maintain my mobility. " We should have this on a poster for daily affirmation. I do not feel like someone to be in awe of, in all honesty. I respect anyone in our age range who is making an effort to maintain their health and fitness.

I maintain an ongoing conversation in CoPilot A.I. where I enter my routines, and get analysis and feedback. One thing about A.I., it is all about positive encouragement. One of the reasons I'm looking for real world discussion. However, I do recommend inputting your routines into A.I. along with any medical reports and test results you may have. It can offer analysis of your routines, suggest modifications based on you personally. For my exercise bike sessions, I input data from the recovery phase. Peak heart rate, typically at the start of recovery, then HR after 1 minute, 2 minutes and 4 minutes (end of recovery phase). I also record total calories burned. Other factors which seem to affect performance, whether morning or afternoon, quality of sleep the previous night.

If sweat levels are anything to go by, my weight sessions are only at a perspiration level, I do rest between each exercise. My bike routines, however, I sweat like a bastard!

Seadoug, I like it, your doing great. (y)
Againstthegrain, I found many of your exercises on the web. Looking good, (y). My knees do not allow me to do any kind of squats. Leg press on the machine is no problem, but squats? No.
Oldeagle66, 6 miles a day, wow! I do not have the time. Again squats :(. Nothing wrong with 'found' weights, whatever works.

Keep up the good work, everbody!

@tchewtch, Welcome to the forums. Gotta say, you've got a great routine, may you live long an prosper...May the Fourth be with you.

Ideally I usually do 3 visits a week to the gym, either participating in an Active Aging circuit class, or just on my own, using 6 different weight machines. I also do a couple different Yoga classes, one fairly strenuous Ashtanga Yoga class, then one of a couple less involved Yoga styles(Gentle, Mindful). I try to get on my treadmill every day and do 30~60 minutes at a moderate pace.

In recent times I struggle to maintain my routine, with the progression of Osteoarthritis in a couple joints and Stenosis in my lower back. As usual, Life is a work-in-progress.

Nathan, more power to you! đź’Ş Good to hear someone is making the effort despite having challenges trying to stop you.
