Lori Vallow Trial

They killed because they wanted to be together, unfettered, and collect payments which belonged to the children and did. In fact she got 10 years for grand theft.

I believe Chad also cashed in the insurance check he got from the death of his wife.

I'm not defending Lori Vallow she's going to prison, as she should for doing bad, illegal things. I use the word bad because evidently some people don't like the word evil (which means extremely, profoundly bad.)

It's Pepper who thinks we should lock people up for their beliefs. It was her statement about no tolerating religious fanatics that I was responding to, that's why I quoted it.
What? I never said that. I said to Call them Out! Really, Della, you need reading glasses. You defamed me. Not nice, my friend.

My post #40:
Modern Russia is seeped in religion! Putin is a church-goer! Now that that's out of the way of course I wouldn't put religious people in jail, just put a Close Look on drastic inanities and Call Them Out.

An apology or retraction from you would be nice, but not necessary. We all get over-heated sometimes, right, dear? Put some ice down your shirt. Thank you.

I think this is why there is a no politics rule on the SF. I think religious discussions almost always turn into some sort of strong disagreements. We can discuss things without either. In this case, like all legal court cases, is determined by law. There is no reason to pick at religion. This was a horrible crime, like so many occurring daily.

There should be a no lies rule too. I am very upset over this, and am very tired of being in constant trouble on this site, especially when it involves people I always thought were friendly. I said nothing of the kind of thing I was freshly accused of, nothing. I will shut up now; but yeah, an apology would be swell.

I do apologize if you didn't mean to take any legal action against religious people. I thought that's what "take a close look" and "call them out" meant. I guess I don't know what you did mean by that.

I stand corrected on Russia. I thought that under the soviet union religion was against the law and that it was still frowned on. I was wrong about that.

I wonder how prison will 'be' for her.?

As...it's heard.. those that 'do ANYTHING' to children...
Are 'dealt with'.

It means if someone says something I consider dumb I will yell at them. If I had to write an op-ed in order to yell at them I might. I would not try to stop the person from speaking; I would merely strongly disagree. I would not expect the law to shut them up. I would not want laws to stop them.

Both Lori and Chad would quote "scripture" to justify everything they did. I believe it's how they could talk themselves into comitting their crimes. They honestly believed that everything they wanted to do, like killing Chad's wife, was "God's Will."
This is where religion was brought to light in this thread. Faith in a creator {God} as an excuse of course doesn't fly in a civil society.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and not be politically correct.
IMO they are in the catagory of religious fanatics.

I'd like to know what scripture they used to mentally justify their actions.

You're blaming me for bringing religion to this thread? I think it would be nearly impossible to discuss this case and not bring religion into it. Lori Vallow met Daybell through religious books he had written, she herself is leader of a small religious cult where she calls herself a prophet. She references religion constantly.

Did you listen to her in the recorded final plea to the judge? She says that Jesus talks to her and loves her and approves everything she did. I would call that bringing religion to it wouldn't you? That video is on this thread, so I guess I'm not the only one "bringing religion into it."

I couldn't name all the scriptures she uses to try and justify her actions, she takes verses out of context and quotes them so that their meaning is convoluted. Many of the scriptures she uses are from the Book of Mormon and the Doctrines and Covenants they follow. One line from the Mormon doctrines she uses says, "If he comes at you three times then you can kill him." She used that to justify to herself and her brother that her husband should be killed. Mormons say it is out of context and she misunderstood its meaning.

I, myself, am not Mormon and don't agree with their teachings at all, so don't ask me to cite their scriptures or defend them.

You're not "out on a limb" calling her a religious fanatic. Everyone calls her that. Everyone knows her delusions don't fly in a civil court.

I don't know why you keep trying to argue with me as though you think I'm defending her.

I think you know I'm a Christian and somehow you're trying to blame me and all other Christians for what this woman did.

I quoted your post by copying & pasting that portion of your post. It's not blaming simply bringing the fact that religion was the reason given by her to justify what she did. Zero doubt in my mind using religion is unique to only her. Attributing only good is favored, it's when a crime like this is in the news that it becomes real that not all people relate to religion as being how humanity operates.
