Lottery Win, what would you spend it on....

When someone wins a large amount of money on the Lottery, they are usually people who have always either been careful with money or struggled financially throughout life and therefore haven't been used to spending in any way frivolously, and often find it difficult to spend the money on themselves.
Camelot advise them to spend a decent amount on themselves personally first..it could be large or small but it's only to be spent on the recipient of the win, not gifts for anyone else, to get them used to feeling that it's ok to spend money on themselves and not just others.

If you were a winner of a substantial amount, and took this advice..what would you buy for yourself ?...

First, I would disappear some where. It's a well known fact when you win money, your photo is posted in the paper & media & then all the rip-off artists, crazies & con artists wouldn't leave you alone. Then there are the long lost relatives that always hated you but suddenly they are your best friend. Very often very poor, desperate people win these huge amounts of money. They either blow it very quickly or are dead within 2 years from excessive living. There is one case, locally, of a couple winning $50 million (CND) & spending it wisely over a period of several years. They are from the First Nations & I tip my hat to them for their wise living. However, they are the exception to the rule. I don't gamble but I think that when you win big money you just exchange one set of problems with another & don't tell me that the rich don't have problems.

I honestly can't think of anything I would buy for myself. I do love playing the lottery and divide the amount of the prize in who gets what. Of course my kids and their kids and my sister and her kids and their kids. Now I'm thinking I'd better win a LOT of money.
Sassy, it could be a small thing like expensive jewellery...or a huge thing like a new house, car..... a beach front property... all before the decision to spend money on other people or things :)

Step 1 .. I'd buy a house and hire a gardener and housekeeper, and get two shelter dogs.

Step 2 .. buy my daughter a house with swimming pool, and share the wealth with a few relatives. Also would donate to all my favourite charities.

Don't need an Accountant, my wife's job experience was in Accounting/Finance.

But, would buy a "ranch" style small house next to a lake. Definitely a new boat and vehicle. The vehicle would have to be like our Dodge Durango. Take a vacation to London, Paris, Venice, Niagara Falls and Las Vegas. We both like to gamble (slots), but don't get carried away with it. Pay off everything we owe. IOW, live more of the "good life" than we already are. And, most definitely bank a nice chunk of it.

You can buy my small ranch house, but you will have to dig your own lake. 🤣

The main thing I need at this age is time and it can't be bought.

A live-in cook and housekeeper would be nice along with a house large enough to accommodate us all.

Maybe sampling some expensive grades of chocolate to see if anything is better than Hershey Dark. All in the name of science, of course:LOL:.
