Manhunt for child molesters in Kentucky

Rape is a horrible crime. But I have to wonder how significant the countries of origin are. What if they had been patriotic, flag-waving, native-born Americans who raped teenage girls? Would that crime have somehow
been not quite as bad?

The picture of the nooses brings back the equally horrible old days of lynch mobs. Have we really not moved beyond that yet? The whole way this story was presented here puts the emphasis off the crime that was committed,
and onto the legality of their immigration status. And plays right into the prejudices of those who believe that all immigrants from south of the border are violent criminals.

Thank God this is still a country where crime is punished by prison sentences (too good for them? really?) and not by hanging and torture chambers. Sorry if this spoils your day, guys.

Lynching and killing people who resist arrest prevents recidivism.

I'm sure that some sanctuary city will be happy to protect them should they remain at large.

Build that wall.

My agreement was in regard to ANYONE who commits a rape. And...I still believe that more severe punishment is the answer to crime , as the only possible deterrent to crime. Our current way doesn't seem to be sending the right message.

I understand all too well the the need for revenge, particularly when rape is involved, but it is crucial that we do not exchange our humanity for rage. If we lynch people then we are also monsters. Vigilantism is terrifying. Without the rule of law anarchy reigns.

Absolutely, Sunny. Seeing the image of those nooses brought me back to a very ugly period in our nation's history and caused a shiver of shame to run down my spine.

I never said a thing about circumventing the law. And I am not seeking revenge. You're assuming things about me, that you do not know.

I do not wish to exchange humanity for anything....the rapist did that.

What I wish for is tougher laws & punishment ....& for both to be carried out swiftly.

That is not vigilantism, it would be the law of the land as set by the people . We have become far to soft on crime & criminals.

Hold on people, I was not suggesting that we start lynching people without a trial.

I do believe in the death penalty but the nooses were to depict that I feel that the three men should receive the death penalty for raping the two young girls "Immediately" after being found guilty by a court of law as opposed to being given a life without parole sentence and becoming a financial burden on society for the rest of their worthless lives.

I could care less if they are executed by hanging, lethal injection, electrocution, gas chamber or the firing squad just as long as they are put to death for their crime.....crimes committed against innocent children should be punishable by death. PERIOD !

Ah, and the people executed who were later found to be innocent? Where is their Justice? BTW, the lynching comment was in reply to another poster.

Found innocent?...or not guilty?....there is a difference. Not guilty often times hinges on legal technicalities . If the technicalities do not work out for them?...I really don't care.

If you do not quote..we do not know.

Actually, according to extensive studies, harsh treatment/capital punishment have little deterrent effect on lowering crime rates.

And other studies show that it does. And if it fails in the case of some offenders ?...again, I really do not care. If [they] enter a life of crime anyway?....Oh well....

Can you provide a link to support your statement?
I’m sure Shalimar can provide links.
And for the record I oppose capital punishment irrespective of any weird data you might find

I've never seen any independent studies showing capital punishment or harsher prison terms are effective deterrents, but have seen many showing that they are not.

We can probably all agree that the US prison system is broken. Privatizing prisons has only made it worse.

The first list shows the countries that still have the death penalty. The US sits right there, among that "enlightened" bunch.
So, if the death penalty was effective, those countries would have a much lower crime rate, right?

If one googles it shows all sorts of sites reading for and against . I can't help but believe that many of the nah-sayers are not in some way connected to the prison for profit group. Of course they want us all to believe that the death penalty does not work, promoting prison stays fills their pocket.

Trust me if we would start hanging...and announce the number each day on the news....that would indeed deter crime.

And put to a vote? I'll vote for it.

So what's your point?

In so many of the countries W/out, there is a basic lack of education, opportunity . As such, if the crime rate is high ? it is out of desperation . They may have little choice , but to take the chance.

There is no excuse for crime here, there are all sorts of education / training opportunities . Take advantage of one, get a job.

God bless your heart, your refusal to accept facts that are contrary to your opinion is, uh, shall we say, amusing.

But have a great day

Oh....so your only answer is to be condescending....you're a hoot.
