Marilyn Monroe Cornoner now says her death probably not from suicide

Yes... top actress of the 50s:
1. Grace Kelly
2. Jayne Mansfield
3. Marilyn Monroe... pretty impressive. (y)
Kate, I'm sure you found that somewhere, so I'm not disputing it - I just find it surprising. Not about Grace Kelly or Monroe, but I thought Mansfield mostly did low budget films. Those were good years for Kim Novak, and she did great quality work.

I tend to agree with HollyDolly about Marilyn Monroe. It always seemed to me that she didn't become a cultural icon or considered to be a great actress until after her death, when the early death, plus rumors of high connections started to build her legend.

I remember that my mother and her friends didn't like her, thought her whispery voice and obvious sexiness was sleazy and didn't go to any of her movies. When news came that she had died and it was believed to be suicide, I was working in an office and one of the men said she was probably upset that she was getting too old for her sort of parts. Nobody cried or seemed shocked.

Money doesn't lie and this is a list of the top 20 box office stars up until 1966.

Honestly who cares ? That's my opinion... this minor actress died before my sister was born and my sister is now 63 years old.... in fact my sister might be Marylin Monroe reincarnated lol

I have no idea why her name keep cropping up.. it's boring to me... .. she wasn't the first actress to have affairs with all sorts of public fgures or the first acress to die suspciously... but her name keep being bandied about over 6 decades after she died...
With respect, Holly, I care. Reasonable suspicion of political assassination (I think this is reasonable), should be brought to the light of day, my opinion, especially those in my own country. Remember this is related to the assassination of a president possibly carried out from within by the CIA or others.

Marilyn Monroe was a seriously mixed up woman. From what I've read she had a terrible childhood and was difficult to work with. Her acting ability was nothing special. Her whole career was based on being a sex symbol. She died at 36 and no doubt could see signs of aging and considered what effect that could have on her life. I can easily believe that she committed suicide.

Really! I never thought MM killed herself. And also, as Pepper says, she wasn't "minor," she was a cultural icon and great actress. I hate to see her maligned in any way. @hollydolly, have you ever seen The Misfits? Marilyn is incredible in that. Also in Some Like It Hot. She's always rocked my boat any time I've seen one of her movies.
