Tracfone doesn't have its own cellular network. It leases bandwidth from Verizon, T-Mobile and AT&T.It is a tracfone and i don't know what carrier they use.
And that would have what to do with T-Mobile or Verizon?AT&T has been having layoffs within the last month and supposedly more layoffs coming up in the next month. Could there be a connection?
I don't know if I said it before Roadwarrior but my condolences to your family in the loss of your SIL. May you wife have safe travels.Yesterday while waiting for text from wife when she was scheduled to land (flying in for SIL's funeral). DD got a text but not me. We have Consumer Cell (understand they piggyback on the AT&T towers). Was able to finally get a text after 2 hours. Not much of an issue but good to know.
They'll have to pry my landline out of my cold, wrinkled hands. What's going to catch my junk calls?I just read a blurb that telephone companies want to get rid of land lines. It costs a lot to keep that wire, which goes to your home, working. They want to phase landlines out. It think it's outdated technology. Maybe, it's past its prime???
I agree. My landline worked when the cable TV and internet went out in a storm. But now, my land line works off my router, and if there's no electricity, my landline won't work. They'll have to pry my landline out of my cold, wrinkled hands. What's going to catch my junk calls?
And what communication when the cells are all out of service?
Some will poo- poo that idea and call it a witch hunt. And say, why would they (usually Russia) want to do that.I've been reading for weeks about possible mass outages due to solar flares. In fact I posted something about it in a thread here and somebody "poo-pooed" it. This could well have been a cyber attack though. There has been news that the US has intel about (foreign) bad actors who intend to target our infrastructure.
Guess I'll have to go to CB radio.I agree. My landline worked when the cable TV and internet went out in a storm. But now, my land line works off my router, and if there's no electricity, my landline won't work.
"AT&T, along with other providers of landline phones, will be actively phasing out their landline services soon in response to the FCC Landline Shutdown Order 19-72."
32,000 was just one company. Other companies were involved and the reach was to Montreal. There are approximately 250,000,000 cellphone users in the U.S. I donāt think 32,000 should be considered as massive.
Here in PA, our phones are up and running.
