I agree...I'd rather carry a gun than a knife. I'm not strong or large enough to wield a knife to my advantage. You have to get too close to an abductor.
A taser would be even better. Less messy.

If you think this post is racist, just go to several news sites where folks are able to comment. You would not believe your eyes. I was shocked that those comments were permitted. In my view this is a very racist post.
Excellent post. Many years ago I assisted in teaching judo to women as self defense. We would tell them to execute their throw without warning and then run like hell. I feared that a couple of them would get over confident. Its appalling when anyone is attacked in this manner. Here in England both women and men have been attacked and assaulted, some being taken, held somewhere and their bodies found later. Dreadful cases.
I was once accosted by a man I didn't know and had no wish to engage with. Those who know me well have said (kindly) that I can be very assertive when the need arises and they wish they could be the same. I thank God that He kept me from harm on that occasion and afterward I took some self defence classes offered by our local police force and will never forget the officer telling us to use any means necessary to prevent an attacker from getting you down onto the floor and that if you did manage to get away and run, you'd better run hard and fast and go hammer on someone's door if at all possible because the would-be assailant would be angry you got the better of him and would want to make you pay if caught, in addition to whatever he had in mind in the first place...
People should be able to go for a walk or a run at any time and not fear the worst but, sadly, the times we live in now make that impossible.
You are absolutely right. I once thought that the internet would spread the truth effectively, but it appears that it is even more effective at spreading hate and lies.If you think this post is racist, just go to several news sites where folks are able to comment. I don't think it's a matter of one race being more intelligent than another; it has more to do with attitude and work ethic. It was/is easier to import slaves to do menial work than do it yourself. In my view this is a very racist post.
I suspect some sf women might enjoy that now! Feisty ladies we have here.Excellent post. Many years ago I assisted in teaching judo to women as self defense. We would tell them to execute their throw without warning and then run like hell. I feared that a couple of them would get over confident.
LOL, my role was largely to stand there and let them throw me over and over again. Every now and then I would block their move, but they rather enjoyed tossing me around.
I think they'll have a problem convicting him of 1st degree. If I'm not mistaken, 1st degree requires proof of premeditation, which is difficult to prove.A charge of 1st degree murder has been filed now.
I've read where he watched her for 20 mins or so before he kidnapped her.I think they'll have a problem convicting him of 1st degree. If I'm not mistaken, 1st degree requires proof of premeditation, which is difficult to prove.
That would be perfect, but I doubt it would fly. His attorney would easily disprove premeditation - after all, that's his job. "Watching" his victim doesn't prove intent to kill. Besides, that would also be a charge to "Plead down" which is also par for the course. That's probably how he was free to kill.I've read where he watched her for 20 mins or so before he kidnapped her.
May be they caught him on camera waiting..
Also, they're asking for the Death penalty.
Not in TN, two types, of course 1 is premeditation: but see (2):I think they'll have a problem convicting him of 1st degree. If I'm not mistaken, 1st degree requires proof of premeditation, which is difficult to prove.
I'm wondering what will happen if his attorney says, "It wasn't rape because the sex was consentual. Then she went crazy & started a fight & he accidentally killed her defending himself."Not in TN, two types, of course 1 is premeditation: but see (2):
39-13-202. First degree murder.
(a) First degree murder is:
(1) A premeditated and intentional killing of another;
(2) A killing of another committed in the perpetration of or attempt to perpetrate any first degree murder, act of terrorism, arson, rape, robbery, burglary, theft, kidnapping, aggravated child abuse...
Well, I do not like victim blaming either . But in this case [as with others] she does indeed share the blame for her demise. I mean come-on, ..... 4am out on her own ?! What the hell was she thinking ?
Indeed she should be able to jog when she chooses & where ever she chooses ....... but that is not the world in which we live.
Some people are just totally naive and oblivious to world around us
Sorry, but she should be able to jog when and where she wants. And as much as you don't like victim blaming, you are doing just that. God forbid something awful happens to you.. getting shot while at the supermarket or during a road rage incident. Does that make you naive? Violence happens everywhere. I guess we can just say, "well he knew better".
You are really disgusting blaming this young woman for her demise.![]()
I'm sure the Kidnapping crime in (2) supports the felony murder charge.I'm wondering what will happen if his attorney says, "It wasn't rape because the sex was consentual.

I had much the same experience. When I was a young PR person I had an account that caused me to visit the offices of The Amsterdam News, the African-American newspaper in Harlem. The editors spent time with me, then escorted me downstairs and into a cab. Kindly, wonderful people.I went to school in Harlem. The older residents watched out for the (white) students and kept them safe. Literally. They would advise on where never to go. Became very close to a few of the residents. It was so wonderful to see them and greet them day after day.
I've been safe here in NYC no matter where I went, what I did. Always took care, except when I was a young idiot was almost killed by a girl biker gang. That's a whole other story. But, so far so good. I was robbed twice, both times in England!
Maybe, but his attorney might say, "She voluntarily went with him."I'm sure the Kidnapping crime in (2) supports the felony murder charge.
Any defense is to discredit the witness, here, a silent witness, the woman. It is the Prosecutor's job to squeeze them until they are bone dry, meritless. Sometimes the defense has no legal choice but to go out on a limb with the so called facts, or on appeal, the defendant would argue ineffective assistance of Counsel, among other assignments of error.Maybe, but his attorney might say, "She voluntarily went with him."
Yes, it's ridiculous, but I've heard worse.
Years ago, I saw a guy trying to break into my car. He ran off when I yelled at him. A cop was nearby & he was able to arrest him.
His defense? At trial, his attorney said, "He wasn't trying to break into the car, there was a "For Sale" sign on my car & my client was interested & he wanted to check out the car."
Of course there wasn't any sign, but it couldn't be proven, so the thief walked. I quickly left the courtroom before I yelled something at the judge that would have gotten me in trouble.
