Muhammad Ali world famous boxer passes away at 74. Was hospitalized recently for a respiratory infection and had Parkinsons Disease for over 30 years. World famous and popular made his fame early in his boxing career and refused a draft notice on religious grounds which cost him his title. Won in court system on conscientious objector status. Known for his personality and banter with sportscaster Howard Cosell. Fought Joe Frazier three times. Some say those fights might have contributed to his Parkinsons.

Although it is not unexpected, it is nonetheless a great loss. I am not a boxing fan but was a fan of this man - in particular his political stance.

Ali was actually a very intelligent man. His philosophies surrounding life were all very practical and made perfect sense. While I was in Vietnam, I used to cuss out the kids that ran to Canada or claimed CO status. I wanted them to suffer like me while walking through the swamps and up the deltas of the Mekong River. After I got home, I wanted to forget all about the last 14 months. I didn't even watch the news on TV because it was flooded with stories from Vietnam. I didn't blame anyone for not wanting to be a part of that mess and live in that Hell-Hole over there.

I was never a big boxing fan, but was always interested in Ali and his career. His title fights were always big news and I can remember listening to updates on the radio. Loved his "sparring" with the late Howard Cosell.

I hope he is at peace.

I acknowledge he was one of the great boxers, but often as usual their personal lives were a disaster. His acknowledged 9 kids will be hoping there's enough in the kitty for them, the others well. !
A 'serial adulterer', not a good way to be remembered.

Oh please, Fern! I am not going to judge him.... as someone once said: If all our OWN sins would be known, it would shame the gates of hell .... This does not exactly go along with my own beliefs but it CERTAINLY says well what I think of judgment!
