My deepest condolences, so very sorry for your loss.

Beautiful post. Now you have beautiful memories of him.....
My condolences and prayers. We were very close, despite him being 13 years older than me. He has been living with my niece, his daughter, for the past year as he had dementia and it was no longer safe for him to live alone. He was doing well until the day after his 84th birthday in October and then started having issues with peumonia and had several hospitalizations.
Anyway,my niece and her husband did an absolute unbelievably fantastic job of caring for him this past year, and I wanted to share this email that she sent to everyone. We should all be so fortunate at the end of our lives to have such care....

Gary’s Loved Ones,
On 12/27/2021, at 3:00 pm, Gary slipped away, peacefully, while sleeping. He was in our living room, soft fire burning to his left, picture window with a view of green grass and forest on his right, holiday lights draped high on the walls illuminating the front rooms.
Gary had very little pain the last day of his life, and, for the most part, the last few months, while uncomfortable, he did not suffer much.
On 12/24/2021, 9:30 am, Gary was brought from the hospital to pass away, at home, in the comfort of his own home, a home in Fort Bragg, CA that he shared with Dale and Susie for just a little over a year.
On 12/24, evening, we were able to talk with his best friend Lenny. 12/25 we spoke with his grandson Caleb and sister Ginna and Wes. All messages that were sent to Gary were read to him by Susie, all week.
On 12/25/2021, we watched a great deal of home movies which included family – so much of the family – friends too – and Gary made the sound ‘Aaaaw’ each time something, someone, touched his heart.
Gary was so at peace and happy to be going to see Cathy, Debbie, Kenny, Nancy, his parents Barbara and Harry, his great grandmother Nonnie, former father-in-law Arnold, and many others that he loved.
When Gary passed, we did not wish to rush his exit out of the home. We sat with him, talked and sang to him, played music, reminisced. After a couple of hours, we called the Sheriff and they arrived quickly. They wanted to take him right away, to the mortuary, however I had already contacted Neptune Society and they had told me we could have my dad here overnight. A bit of confusion, a few phone calls, and in the end the Sheriff told me that I was ‘magical’ because I was able to convince the authorities that he could stay with us, overnight.
Dale and I both slept by his side – me on the massage table – Dale in a recliner. In the morning I soothingly sponged my Daddy with organic lavender oil and Dale brushed his hair, gently and lovingly. We sang Debbie’s favorite song: “I’ll Fly Away” and many other songs that Gary loved. We told Gary how much we loved him, what a sweet and good man he was, all week long. My father, Gary Campbell, now in Peace."
