I have such respect for the work that your son does. Keep safe.
What I was watching were riots. People looting stores, burning cars, throwing rocks at cars passing by. How do you thing they would handle this in Russia or China?some definitely are friendly and they’re attended by a token showing police who don’t need to do anything. When the protests turn into riots, in can happen in a blink, and that’s when other first responders are called to deal with the violence, fire damage, property destruction etc.
Note in your post that both instances were by L A police. Not National guard or the Marines. Protecting federal property & federal employees is the reason for use. I really don't understand people that oppose removing those that came here illegally. I understand why they do, even though in another thread America is supposed to be one of the three most hated countries. Not wishing to detract from Ronni's son's experience, I would like to point out that two accredited Australian female journalists have been assaulted by PA police.
One was struck on the leg by a rubber bullet deliberately aimed at her by a LA policeman. Footage confirms that this happened. She was clearly identified as press and was simply commenting live on the situation.
Another Australian news reporter has spoken out about the terrifying moment she was tear-gassed by cops while covering the Los Angeles riots. ABC's North America correspondent Lauren Day was reporting on the immigration protests, in California's biggest city on Monday evening, when she was hit with the non-lethal chemical weapon. Day explained the police had been attempting to disperse demonstrators when she and her team were caught in the firing line.
It would appear that tear gas is not only being used by demonstrators. Where would demonstrators acquire tear gas in US? I don't think civilians can buy it legally in Australia.
Makes perfect sense. I wish I had thought of that. I'll look for that thread I'd like to know how others view what is happening.@Knight, I do not wish to detract from Ronni's post expressing legitimate concern for her son, so I am going to open up another thread that will examine the situation we are seeing through the eyes of a BBC podcast and an Australian long running TV program titled Planet America. In both cases the speakers have extensive knowledge of US current affair so I thought it might be enlightening to listen to what is being said.
Ronni, I hope your son stays safe. His job is dangerous, my respect, sending positive thoughts his way.My son Corey, trying to breathe through the tear gas as they pull up to yet another protest
The riots in Los Angeles are keeping the first responders very busy.

Most protests/demonstrations are held on weekends, after 9-5 working hours and/or when schools are on summer break. There are at least 2,000 scheduled this Saturday in the US alone, for instance.Have you wondered how so many people can spend so much time protesting and not working?
Unfortunately some violence is provoked and encouraged for political reasons. It makes calling in the military seem more reasonable.
Everyone I know is protesting at every single one. Most are held on weekends and many of my friends are retired. It’s really hilarious that you think people are being paid.Have you wondered how so many people can spend so much time protesting and not working?
The answer is simple THEY GET PAID TO DEMONSTRATE!.
Organizations if that is what you want to call them like -Crowds on Demand - pay them to march and hold up signs and to do whatever they see fit.
Yes you can add being an activist to your source of income as a side hustle.
Found all of that out in about five minutes of searching.
This is why I keep saying that the demonstrations in the 60s were a lot more real than these paid to cry and yell ones!
Is it illegal to pay people to protest? I ask because I truly don't know. There are protests all the time on political, cultural, environmental issues etc. I am sure it take money to mobilize people. I know it costs a lot of money to conduct a political convention or any type of campaign.Am I the only person who can search on the internet to see if people get paid to be activists-demonstrators- rioters or what ever?
When I tried to post these facts to Facebook they wanted me to put out an ad looking for people to protest.
I had to agree to run an ad on marketplace and then delete it before I could just state the fact that organizations pay people to march and demonstrate.
Maybe there are some old nitwits who waste their time marching around with signs for free but there are a lot of people of all ages who are being paid to march.
LOOK IT UP FOR YOURSELF!
If I can find it in two minutes anybody can!!

Craigslist has prank ads which are not real based off the YouTube comedy show. It took me only a few minutes to verify the information. Snopes as well as other sites reported that this is an unsubstantiated rumor.Just search the internet for -“How can I become a paid immigration activist?”
After you read the step by step instructions come back on here and call me a liar again.
Look up what kinds of jobs are available to demonstrators.
Did you find any sites offering to pay you to protest? That's the question. If so, how much, how do they verify your hours, what are their expectations, and how do they pay these demonstrators, and so forth? Show us some specific offers and their contracts.Am I the only person who can search on the internet to see if people get paid to be activists-demonstrators- rioters or what ever?

If you truly believe people to be nitwits when they choose to exercise their freedom of speech by demonstrating against government or corporate actions, well let's just say that you're more to be pitied than scorned.Maybe there are some old nitwits who waste their time marching around with signs for free but there are a lot of people of all ages who are being paid to march.
