I am kind of excited about what we might find out after this hearing. :)

WASHINGTON—The Subcommittee on National Security, the Border, and Foreign Affairs will hold a hearing titled “Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena: Implications on National Security, Public Safety, and Government Transparency.” The subcommittee hearing will explore firsthand accounts of unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAP) and assess the federal government’s transparency and accountability regarding UAPs’ possible threats to U.S. national security. This hearing will also highlight legislative efforts to bring transparency to UAPs and require the federal government to provide the American people with information about potential risks to public safety and national security.

“The Pentagon and Washington bureaucrats have kept this information hidden for decades, and we’re finally going to shed some light on it. We’re bringing in credible witnesses who can provide public testimony because the American people deserve the truth. We’re done with the cover-ups,” said Rep. Tim Burchett (R-Tenn.).

In 2022, at the direction of Congress, the Department of Defense created the All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO) to investigate UAP reports. The federal government spends millions of dollars examining UAPs yet refuses to be forthcoming with the American people as it continues to declassify certain videos and studies on various UAP incidents with little clarity on the subject’s origins.

“The status quo on the part of the U.S. government has been to leave the American public in the dark regarding information about UAPs, refuse to answer questions posed by whistleblowers, avoid the concerns Americans have about the possible threats UAPs pose to our national security and public safety, and default to extreme and unnecessary over-classification. If the last few months have taught me anything, it is that this is an issue that matters to Americans. It also impacts the transparency and accountability our government is supposed to grant to the people who it serves. I look forward to bringing this topic to light,” said Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-Fla.).

I may be opening myself to ridicule here since I'm flying blind, but... in what form is the specific phenomena they'll be looking at since it could be a number of things? Assuming it's not the ordinary commonplace "UFO sightings" that people have talked about forever? Or is it?

Could be referring to UFOs, because they keep changing the terminology. Now they are known as unidentified aerial phenomena (UAPs), similar to the term used in the OP, right. (?) I'm looking forward to what get revealed.

Yes, I am, too! There's always the nagging in the back of my mind, though, that "the people deserve the truth" always translates to "as long as it's not more than we choose to tell them." 🤷‍♀️

Somehow I'm not thinking of "space aliens" but that the gov't was really worried about possible threats UAPs pose to our national security and public safety, of the domestic kind.

After decades of denial and portrayal of those who report them as crackpots, I’m encouraged that the government is finally promising to become more open on the subject of UAP’s. I could die happy were it revealed during my lifetime that there is evidence that we are not alone in the universe... 🛸

UAPs are real to the extent that there is phenomena that we can't figure out. It's a huge leap of faith to attribute unknown natural phenomena to space aliens. It's like saying, "it's raining, so it must be space aliens."
I would be happy if life were found in space. But I doubt space aliens are checking into Holiday Inns.
And, to be honest, these Congressional committee sessions are more to appeal to a voting bloc than to "dispense the truth". They are going to issue a huge volume that says there's definitely , maybe, could be ,we don't know report. Like all the other hard hitting clearing the air, tell all reports.

Do they exist ? Are they our own ? Who knows ? ..... but, my question is why the name change after all these years ? UFO, now UAP ???????

Change the name so you can change the topic or direction of the narrative? Nothing like making something convoluted when you don't want to give straight answers.

If there's life on this planet, there is some kind of life forms on others IMO. Now what that life may be like or how it looks, who knows. But someone, somewhere within the government could very well answer that. Will they be forthright & release what has been asked for over the years? I don't think they will.
