Anybody enjoying a series on one of the "streaming" channels, such as Netflix, Prime Video, Hulu, YouTube, or a good cable channel like HBO?

One show I enjoyed tremendously (just finished the series and am running it the second time) is Hacks, starring the wonderful Jean Smart. She plays a wisecracking Las Vegas comic, still glamorous at about age 60, but a bit over the hill. Her manager insists that she hire a young comedy writer to help her spruce up her act, and she gets a perky, very funny and likeable young woman, who is very talented. Of course they start out hating each other, but it morphs into a buddy comedy.

It is shot in Las Vegas, which is a little unusual, and all the nonsense and insanity of that glittery show biz world is satirized brilliantly. Don't miss it, if you're looking for a good series.

Also enjoying Madam Secretary, Last Tango in Halifax (for the umpteenth time), and just finished Better Call Saul. These series are excellent, better than most movies IMO, and I like the short length of each episode, usually less than an hour for most of them.

I'm waiting for the return of the series Ozark (on Netflix). Jason Bateman's performance is flawless. Laura Linney plays his wife. She's a great actress, imo, but she's at her best ever in this part. She's brave, too; she let's us see her looking worn out and kind of yukky in one episode.

There are some other series (on Netflix) that I really liked that aren't coming back, I guess. Frankenstein Chronicles, Spotless...oh man, that one was excellent, and a couple of others I can't remember right now.

'm waiting for the return of the series Ozark (on Netflix).
Me too. Also, Better Call Saul, Frankie & Grace.

After reading rave reviews about the authenticity, I’m finally watching The Wire through a Canadian HBO streaming service (Crave). Only half through season 1, it’s gritty.

Hacks....Netflix?
Sounds like something I might like. Thx.

Better Call Saul is on my watch list but I've never watched it, so at this point there's a whole lot of seasons I'll have to catch up on. I'm not feelin' it yet.

Some we are currently watching:
Virgin River
This is Us
Private Practice
Manifest
MacLeod's Daughters (PBS)

Other good ones:
The Wire (my second favorite series)
Breaking Bad (my favorite series)
Queen's Gambit
Better Call Saul
Ozark
Six Feet Under (best ending ever)
The Americans

I was a late-comer to "Downton Abbey"...just finished it on Netflix and thoroughly enjoyed it.
Also...
"The Gambit"
"Virgin River"
"Little Fires Everywhere"...first episode wasn't great but then it got me hooked
"Schitt's Creek"...didn't warm up to this right away but my daughter kept talking about how good it was...after awhile, it was very good

I love Netflix ! There’s so much rubbish on the normal TV channels I hardly bother with them these days

Just finished watching a period drama called ‘The Cook of Castamar’ not everybody’s choice but I really enjoyed it

"Little Fires Everywhere" was good. "Schitt's Creek" was pretty good. "Downton Abbey" was really good.

Netflix-Sweet Tooth, Jinn, The Guest, The Manchurian Candidate, Pelican Brief, Warrior Nun, The Good Place, Sum of all Fears, Underworld Series, Old Guard, The Book of Henry, American Ultra,
I also stream HBO/MAX, HULU, Apple TV & Amazon Prime. Like all movie genres, primarily dark movies & tv shows

We;re going to have to watch Better Call Saul; we never watched Breaking Bad regularly--well, Huzz thought it was just so-so, I hated it--but we both really enjoyed Bob Odenkirk (Saul) in Nobody (which we rented from xFinity On Demand), not my usual cuppa but boy we both really liked it.

Is there something about Virgin River that I missed? We watched the first episode and both of us felt like we were watching a Hallmark Movie.

Virgin River is a series to watch when you want to unwind with a glass of wine. There is suspense and drama but it's not a thriller by any means.

There are bad-guy drug dealers in a dark camp out in the woods that pose a serious threat to the main female star, flashbacks to a traumatic stillbirth, fist fights, and a stalker who wants to hurt a mother and take her child.. There is some violence when he shows up but doable...which I doubt you will find in a Hallmark movie.

But it's not anything too graphic, no torture, no bad language, and no nudity, although there is kissing in bed lol. I only saw Season 1.

I cut the cord a couple of years ago and have never regretted it. I have Hulu+, Netflix, Amazon Prime (complimentary via my Metro PCS cell service upgrade) and more recently Discovery+ and Paramount+. I never would have subscribed to Paramount but Amazon was offering a two month deal of 99 cents/mo.
Paramount: I'm really into The Love Boat so wanted to finish re-watching that series as well as catch the new season of Evil and finish The Equalizer (Queen Latifah). I may check out The Stand too but only intend to keep Paramount for 3 or 4 months now and maybe 2 or 3 months next season. The movie Flight is on my list too.

My watch lists are extensive on each service. Some of the Netflix shows include Sweet Tooth, Black Lightening, Supernatural, Rosewell New Mexico and Grey's Anatomy. Waiting for new seasons of Stranger Things, The Flash and Legacies. The movies include Olympus Has Risen, The Two Killings of Sam Cooke. Ma Rainy's Black Bottom and the docs Miles Davis and The Social Dilemma.

Hulu+ Extensive list includes The Rookie, World News Tonight, GMA, Blue Bloods, Criminal Minds, Mom, The Last Ship and Handmaiden's Tale (only watch that when the mood hits me). Have yet to start Parenthood, The Haves and Have Nots and Sleeper Cell. I started The Shape of Water but haven't gotten back to it. Also on the movie list: Crawl, Summer of Soul and You Laugh But It's True (Trevor Noah).

Discovery+ has an extensive catalog of my beachfront home buying shows, including those in the islands. I just finished the series about Extreme Houseboats. I've watched the tiny homes shows and Million Dollar Rooms. Discovery has DIY, food, nature channels and Oprah's Own. I've just scratched the surface of things to watch.

Amazon Prime: The only series were Upload and Carnival Row; waiting for both to return. They also have lots of UFO docs. I'm checking out the movies with David Bautista since I loved him in My Spy. They include Final Score and Escape Plan: The Extractions. I just finished Marauders.
I subscribed to and stopped HBO three times over the years. They kept repeating the same movies, their shows feature too much vulgarity so I doubt I'll subscribe to it or other like "premium" channels again.

Jeweltea, I agree about the final episode of Six Feet Under being the best one ever written. They certainly made sure that nobody would revive the series!

Another very good one on Netflix is "Unbelievable." It's the story of a young girl who is raped, and there is so little evidence that the police decide she is faking it. But the interesting quirk is that she begins to believe that she imagined the whole thing. It has about 6 episodes, and I won't say any more about it, except that the acting and writing are brilliant. The woman is played by Kaitlyn Dever (I think that's her name), and the two detectives who finally get involved are played by Merritt Weaver and Toni Collette. All three are wonderful actors. Don't miss this one.

You may know Merritt Weaver as the ditzy nurse in Nurse Jackie, another good series.

I absolutely loved Better Call Saul, much more than I liked Breaking Bad. I've only seen 4 seasons of it, although they did a 5th season, but they are charging for each episode, so I'll wait.

Another very funny and poignant series is The Kominsky Method, also on Netflix. It stars Michael Douglas and Alan Arkin.

My Netflix watchlist looks a lot like yours except for Grey's Anatomy, which I have on DVD, and I haven't seen The Social Dilemma.

I have other movies, too. Hateful Eight, Dolemite is My Name, We Have Always Lived in the Castle, a bunch of others. And I hope the series Living with Yourself Comes Back, too. Paul Rudd stars. It's very entertaining and kind of thought provoking.

I don't watch a whole lot of TV, but when I do it's either Netflix or the You Tube channel. I've been watching more since I got married, except on the few evenings when Michelle has to study. So we're slowly working through my Netflix watchlist, plus she built her own.

For those that watched the Breaking Bad series Better Call Saul would be a "must see" prequel.

Just finished "Episodes" on netflix, 5 seasons with Matt LeBlanc portraying a fictional version of himself. Entertaining.

We watch Spycraft sometimes. It's about how intelligence is gathered — mainly by the U.S., but they also talk a bit out other countries' spying. Well worth watching if you're into that kind of thing.
