For a couple decades I have perceived the world as increasingly disliking the US. The article says "

" a major cause of the animosity directed toward the US is the country's tendency to overstep when trying to influence international events in a way that benefits the U.S.," the World Population Review says.

"While this country's appearance on the 'most hated' list may surprise many Americans, few Asians or Europeans will bat an eyelash," it added.

Map shows world's most hated countries

Things like providing security so that defense isn't an expense. Or 1st to rush aid when a disaster strikes.

Here is info that doesn't agree with what you post.

Which Countries Provide and Receive the Most Foreign Aid?

Do you have a source showing something different?

I could agree that wanting & forcing other countries to use their resources can cause discontent. I'm in favor of that aid support being cut & used to help American's 1st.
Knight, Thanks for the link you provided from 2017. Much has changed since then.
REEVALUATING AND REALIGNING UNITED STATES FOREIGN AID

Makes no difference to me, most people hate us but would give anything to become an American! Second comment, I trust very little I read in News Week...
MOST ..people would NOT want to become American... those in poverty looking for a better life ...or those with high skillsets and not being paid enough in their countries for those skills , will be the ones who'd like to live in the USA...but believe me MOST people in the world would not like to be American

This is no shade on the people on this forum the vast majority here as a representative of their country are super people...

You only stated the obvious economic opportunities for those wanting to live in the US. You conveniently left out a few on this list below. Take a gander at number #2 and #3.

I wonder if there is some confusion with, "...aid when a disaster strikes", as you mention in post #3, and the link you later provide here, as in Foreign Aid.

I would say the two are different. Foreign Aid being used for strategic leverage, such as maintaining alliances and influencing policy decisions of other nations. Even being used to counter rivals influence on a particular nation. That Foreign Aid then being reduced or withdrawn if the receiving nation doesn't toe the line. This is different from aid for when a disaster strikes.

The UK uses Foreign Aid in the same way.

Please go to travel.state.gov which is one of the two official immigration sites, and pull up visa information by category and country.

I didn't ''conveniently'' leaving anything out

Persecution? .. and Politics ?... comes under the same thing as far I'm concerned ..and that's Poverty...those who live in poverty stricken countries, countries who are at war with their neighbours..all come under the same umbrella.. of poverty...

people from India.. The Middle East, the African continent.. Russia.. Ukraine.. all living in dire circumstances in some instances... .. but they come to all western countries not just the USA

The UK has a massive immigrant population for it's size... In fact our immigrant numbers are actually larger than the USA...the uk.. stands at almost 17 % of the population.. that they know of.. and very likely a good deal more...

The USA.. has an immigrant population of 14 %...

So we could argue that by those percetages that ''Everybody wants to be British''... but of course that wouldn't be the case they just come for a better life !

You are correct I did post that in error.

I have this fantasy that there will soon be a conclusion to colonialism. :)

I have experience that comment a couple of times. My wife and I crossed The Pond many times, we had a dear friend, married to an American and living in Savannah Georgia. We exchanged visits most years until their passing, within a year of each other, some years back.
People that our friends knew and others that we struck up conversation with, all were good company, loved our accents and engaged with us.

On a couple of occasions we heard the remark about wishing to become American. One fellow even took it as a snub when I expressed no desire to change nationalities nor do I wish to permanently leave the small Island that I live on. When I added that it made for a safe feeling living in a country where the police go about their day to day business, unarmed, he became quite defensive. Telling him that we loved visiting the US didn't placate him. There was no point arguing or even explaining that much as I enjoyed visiting his country, I loved my own country as much as he loved his.

I speak for myself. IMO this pause you posted as a reference best serves America. I live here & expect leadership to look after my best interest.

Sec. 3. (a) 90-day pause in United States foreign development assistance for assessment of programmatic efficiencies and consistency with United States foreign policy. All department and agency heads with responsibility for United States foreign development assistance programs shall immediately pause new obligations and disbursements of development assistance funds to foreign countries and implementing non-governmental organizations, international organizations, and contractors pending reviews of such programs for programmatic efficiency and consistency with United States foreign policy, to be conducted within 90 days of this order. The Office of Management and Budget (OMB) shall enforce this pause through its apportionment authority.

This is an example of why the change satisfies me.
At USAID, Waste and Abuse Runs Deep

It's not a mystery the the big 3 powers are not "liked". For whatever reason millions of haters have entered America illegally to I guess hate from inside while enjoying all that is hated.

That makes perfect sense. It's no surprise that people have pride in their country of origin. One that comes to mind is the celebration of Cinco de Mayo celebrated all over America.
