Such as the War of Colonial Agression fought starting in 1776?Would you go so far as to say semantics can be used to manipulate people's perceptions and opinions?
I would.

Yes I would, by 'shading' the meaning or implication of words and phrases.Would you go so far as to say semantics can be used to manipulate people's perceptions and opinions?

Absolutely, Hamas knew that they would get a significant response, potentially costing thousands of Palestinian lives. Hamas was prepared to take that risk.Hamas knew they would get a significant response from Israel. That's also what October 7th was about.
I am pointing out that semantics is meaningful...and sometimes purposeful. Semantics matters.Yes I would, by 'shading' the meaning or implication of words and phrases.
You appear to want to separate war and response, while I maintain that the war is part of the response.
Semantics may matter to you but in this context I really don't rate them.I am pointing out that semantics is meaningful...and sometimes purposeful. Semantics matter.
Easy to risk a life not your own. F them, F Hamas and the fools who can't see the cynical set up.Absolutely, Hamas knew that they would get a significant response, potentially costing thousands of Palestinian lives. Hamas was prepared to take that risk.
I wonder if the multi-billionaire Muslim leaders who caused the food shortage in the first place are going to donate all the food Gaza needs or is the rest of the world going to have to feed them?

Hamas leaders net worth:
Abu Marzuk $3 billion
Khaled Mashal $4 billion

Whoever heard of our wealthiest people give money for food and other necessities to those that need it the most? Even the multi-millionaires and billionaires in this country only give chump change compared to what they could give without any pain whatsoever. The Clintons, Bush’s and Oprah and many other of our wealthiest do give a few thousand each year to help the homeless, but to them, it’s really only chump change or a pittance of their wealth.Hamas’ annual turnover: $1 billion
Israeli fighter jets struck several sites in southern Lebanon that belong to the Hezbollah terror group back in March, after Hezbollah launched explosives-laden drones into the Golan Heights. In a way its a rather surprising that this whole skirmish between Israel and Hamas has been well contained - it could easily have spilt over into Lebanon
This started long before October 7th. Are you taking that into consideration? We could then rewrite it to 'Gaza's response to the Israeli governments and IDF brutalization of the Palestinian people in Gaza, the West Bank, East Jerusalem, Hebron, and everywhere else in Israel for the past 50 years, which resulted in Israel punishing them by murdering 34,000+ people.
And so were white people killing unarmed women, men and children all around the world on every continent. Many if not most of those white people, Christians - Spanish Inquisition, Crusaders, King Leopold of Belgium, Christopher Columbus, the Spaniards who travelled to the New world, Americans who took slaves and killed FN people as well as Canadians who did their share of that, Brits and French who ran slave colonies all around the globe......so what? And there hasn't been a time when the Israeli's haven't been oppressing, abusing and murdering Palestinians......you aren't making a point.Yes indeed it started long before October 7th. Muslims have been killing unarmed women, men and children all over the world long before the modern state of Israel was founded. And after Israel was founded there hasn’t been a time when Palestinian Muslims weren’t attacking Israel. In 1971 Muslims killed 3 million unarmed women, men and children in Pakistan in the same horrific ways the Palestinian Muslims killed Israelis on Oct. 7. Islam has a long history of attacking people around the world in keeping with the Islamic ideology of bringing the entire world under Islamic Law.
greast response! I concureAnd so were white people killing unarmed women, men and children all around the world on every continent. In fact today, Hamas has finally agreed to some sort of peace deal which would get hostages back (I don't really know any more details then that) and Israel is not interested and plan on going ahead with an attack on Rafah where 100,000 people live and are now expected to move again to areas where there is nothing because it's all been destroyed already. Israel is behaving like so many of our countries did 200 years ago. We learned better, we're trying to right wrongs and yet we excuse Israel for sinking to the lowest common denominator as far as humanity goes.
You ain't lied Debrah! White people lynched so many Blacks for minor offenses or no good reason at all, raped our women and purposely split up families, mostly by killing the men or moving them to other locations during slavery. After being welcomed and treated with hospitality, Columbus and his men overtook land that rightfully belonged to Native Americans and even gave them syphilis, according to reports I've heard and read. America has stripped them of rights to their land that some are still fighting to get back. And the media, back in those days demonized us...the Blacks and Native Americans! And so were white people killing unarmed women, men and children all around the world on every continent. IDF Isreali army radio station has taken control of the Gaza side of the Rafah crossing - hot off the press??
You still haven't answered my question: Where and when did this oppression, abuse, and murder of Palestinians by Israeli's happen?there hasn't been a time when the Israeli's haven't been oppressing, abusing and murdering Palestinians......
Ah... Palestine Children's Relief Fund... I think I'll check into it as well. I'm pretty picky about where to donate for any cause because so many aren't transparent in how they distribute funds vs skimming off for their own execs, but maybe this one will work for me.My wife found a Christian fund that is collecting food, supplies and medicines to mostly children in the Gaza area. She is still looking into the group, but is leaning towards giving them our donation. I don’t know the name, but it’s something like PCRF fund. I am going to be checking into today myself.
In my opinion most of the money donated to such an organization and especially the UNRWA will go straight to the leaders of Hamas. They are billionaires ecactly for this reason.Ah... Thanks, George... for the reminder. I *had* heard months ago when it really started escalating that Hamas was not letting food get through to the people who were hungry and I forgot about that. Wanting to help while not funding a terrorist organization truly takes a lot of research. @George1959In my opinion most of the money donated to such an organization and especially the UNRWA will go straight to the leaders of Hamas. Apparently just over 50% of the Israeli population doesn't stand with its own government.I stand with Israel
