Not around much due to migraines

Some of you know I got a migraine day before yesterday. Well, the dang thing came back yesterday. Actually, that isn't unusual. I'm never sure it's a separate headache or 2 or 3. Today I am feeling ok, and hoping I don't get a 3rd. Trying not to focus on that, and get up and around here. Just wanted to let folks know if I don't answer much, or post much today I'm down for the count.

Someone told me about Visiting Angels for a place to apply for a job. I am going to call them as soon as this is typed. They are in another town, but they handle this area. I am hoping they have some work for me (non-lifting, just getting groceries, cooking a meal etc. for people that can't get out much) Ha, I'm practically one of them last couple days. But when I am well, I am running around a lot. These headaches are the only thing that put me in bed, and they only come around about once a year now:)

have a great day all!! Denise

well here we are in bed together, who would'a thought:zz:Hey, you get better young man!! We'll have some Count Chocula when we are both up to it;) Denise

try 10mg to 20 mg of melatonin. although melatonin is usually used as a sleep aid by the "health" crowd it works well for migraines and can be taken during the day. it works with 5-HTP, serotonin, to reset your Circadian cycle, increase gut motility, and increase brain serotonin.

I just happen to have a bottle right here but it didn't cross my mind to try it for a migraine? Might as well, not goin anywhere, and it does make me drowsy;) Thank you much for the tip rt3!! Denise

Oh help, are you still there RT3?? My bottle says 300 MCG. I can google it though, to make sure I get the amount you recommended;)

Hmm, I'm not gettin it, there are 2.5 micrograms in each capsule, figured that out. So how many caps to make 10 or 20 miligrams? Hep me, somebody hep me, LOL!!

nwlady, rest your eyes, and think of sharing that cereal.

Ah, funny, as long as I can see straight, light has never bothered me. When the pain hits, I crawl into a ball and kill anything that comes near me. Except for my darlin Toney Dog. Gee, I 'll never stop missing her:) Always by my side:) Probably to only living thing I ever let near me on a regular basis, LOL!! Guess that's why I'm divorced. Oh well.

Fave movie, The Whales of August, Lillian Gish, Bette Davis, Ann Southern and Vincent Price. I LOVE that movie! I''m getting delirious over here, medic?? LMAO!!

I think our terms have gotten mixed up here somehow - you would need to take 8,000 capsules to get 20 milligrams.

1,000 micrograms = 1 milligram

Nwlady, are you sure it's not 2.5 mg ??? If they are, you should take 4. My husband and I have been using melatonin for years now, and it's hard to find a potency that is less than 1 mg in the stores.

I've never seen melatonin that was only 2.5 micrograms (mcg). If you truly have something that is that low of a dose (which I doubt)...then you should just get some 3 or 5 mg melatonin the next time you feel well enough to shop for it.

Good luck with the Visiting Angels position, I really like the way their ad sounded, told my husband if her ever passed and I was alone in the future, I may need a visiting angel myself.

That is 3 mg, and if that is what you are taking one of at nite, it might be all you need for the headache as well. I have taken up to 10 mg, but that might leave you really drowsy.
Also, try drinking slowly a glass or two of water, that is supposed to help migraines, from what i have read.

Oh no... math was my WORST subject. I went to summer school 3 different times for math.
Milligrams, micrograms, 10 - 20, 300, 2.5, 4, 3 or 5........
Now I'm getting a migraine.

nwlady, I sure hope your migraine doesn't come back.
I know a couple people who suffer from them.
They describe it as horrible.
Feel & stay better real quick! :encouragement:

its not the melatonin that causes the drowsiness, its the circadian cycle that is out of whack causing the day time drowsiness. ordinary melatonin increase/decreases also starts/stops growth hormone release. taking melatonin in daytime "whacks" the chain of events to get them back on cycle. over the counter melatonin comes in a min. dose of 1 mg or 1000 mcg. you should take at least 5 mg, 10 to 20 would be better. do you also have the "cosmos" ( hemaplegia induced optical illusions caused by potassium flux over the visual center (occipital lobe) of the brain, or cluster type with acute pain centers located inside the head?

anybody know if Phil is doin ok?

said he was feeling cruddy this a.m. Hope he is doin ok. I always make it through these stinkin headaches, should be done with them now, hope.

He's alive and well, still full of pi$$ and vinegar as usual Nwlady. :playful: When you said you were down for the count, I think he just made a joke saying he was too, and referring to Count Chocula (cereal)...I don't think he had a headache, he was just joshin' ya! ;) Hope you're feeling better Nwlady, did you ever take the melatonin?

Oh well, in that case, I think he should get an enema just to teach him not to cry "sick" the big fakercan-stock-photo_csp7754693.jpg
