Notes from Pappy's diary

Saturday morning our housekeeper came and did a lot of extra things to help my wife. She hung up her clothes after washing them and brought us a loaf of banana bread for our supper. I must admit that the house wasn’t very tidy until she got here.

My wife is having trouble as to what meds she takes so I sat down with her and we went over them together. Found out yesterday that she had run out her BP meds. A phone call to the doctor and a trip to CVS for meds got her back on track.

She is using her walker quite well although I tag along with her wherever she goes. Our main problem is falling so must avoid that.

Monday, staples are being removed and therapist will decide if she can do stairs. I hope so as she has been refined to house almost two weeks. Pappy

What a busy week this has been. I’ve been playing the role of housewife all week. Learned to use the dishwasher and the washer and dryer. The washer is a Samsung that plays a tune when I start it up and has a hundred settings but I think I’ve figured it out. Fixing supper I’ve had a couple disasters but my loving wife still ate them. My problem is I tend to overcook an item.

Got an Instacart order today. Pantry and frig are full again and my wallet is really getting lighter. Thelma’s therapist came today and is happy with her progress up to now. 17 days since the knee surgery. We have 3 steps leading from the carport up to our Florida room. He made her practice going up and down and showed me what to do to help her. She has an appointment with her surgeon next Tuesday so we needed to learn how to do this.

I guess I’ve rambled on long enough for now. I wish you all a good night and stay safe..

Thanks for the update @Pappy. Those 3 steps are perfect to start climbing and that is very important.
My best to Thelma. Oh and I guess it's your turn now to do the housework, eh? (y)

Rose…I’ll get back to you after I vacuum, wash dishes, dust, change the bed. Oh heck, I May never get back to you…😅

So darn proud of my wife. Going on 4 weeks since total knee replacement and exercising and walking well, with her walker. We are even trying walking with just a cane up and down our hallway. I purchased an adjustable belt I put on her and can hold her steady if she needs help.

Everything is fairly quiet around here since many neighbors have gone back home. We have empty houses all around us. At least I can play my tv and stereo as loud as I want and not disturb anyone.
I got my new VA hearing aids Tuesday and hearing is much better now. I’ve always had trouble hearing the tv and with these aids I can direct the sound to my aids. Fantastic, I can hear again.

No doctors appointments until next week. Hurray. I have an eye appointment on the 20th. Glaucoma and field test are in order. Thelma’s in home therapist is only coming once a week now. He is very pleased with her progress.

That’s it from the Pappy household so have a great day and God bless.

I did a very stupid thing yesterday. I lost my balance and fell in the dining room. Broke my left wrist and peeled the skin off a large part of that arm. Needless to say. I spent my afternoon in the ER getting the wrist wrapped and am now confined to a sling for six weeks…🙁

Did not need this at this time as the wife isn’t healed for at least three more weeks from her knee replacement. Some things she can help me with and some I can help her. My son is coming down next Sunday to give us a hand. He’ll be here a week. Thank god as things are piling up here.

Some much for the crappy news. My daughter ordered us a wheel chair to be delivered in a day or too. She insisted that this would help us so her being a nurse, I guess she’s right.

Happier news next time. I promise. PappyIMG_2576.jpegIMG_2579.jpeg

OMG, Pappy... we can't turn our back on you for a minute can we ?... 🤗 thank the good lord that you have your daughter and son who are willing and able to come and help out... otherwise we would have had to get up a rescue party...lol

be well my friend...

Finally got an appointment with an oncologist for my wrist. He took off that heavy hospital cast and replaced it with a more manageable cast. Also addressed my bloody elbow. Thelma had her PT guy come today and put her through some rough exercises. She’s a trooper and handles pain better than I do.

We are coming into the hot, humid rainy season again. So glad I replaced our A/C last year. Need to have it serviced soon. These hot days give us some beautiful bright red sunrises to enjoy.

Gotta run. The golf cart awaits for an evening ride. Pappy
