Notes from Pappy's diary

Hope you get good results from your scan on Monday Pappy. I can't imagine how stressful it is waiting for those kinds of results. You're just a spring chicken to some, my friend. :love_heart: I would say Norwich, lol! Hope you have a good night, please let us know how the test results turn out.
I remember reading that Dagwood Bumstead was from Sandwich, NY!

Had my visit with my urologist this morning. Everything looking good except for this stubborn bladder infection. I am taking Nitrofurantoin for that. Hoping it does the job. Rescheduled my next visit in three months with him.

Thursday, my wife and I have to get up early and have blood work done for our annual physical. Looks like we will be going out for breakfast.

Thinking about selling my golf cart and purchasing a 3 wheel electric bike. They are very popular here in old timers village. Probably purchase two so we can ride together.

Not a very exciting life we lead, but still together and that’s all that matters….Pappy

How about a sidecar?

Sorry about the bladder infection, are also drinking unsweetened cranberry juice, Pappy?

Still haven’t decided on getting a 3 wheeler electric bike. Can’t really do much until I sell the golf cart. I have the cash to buy one outright but hate using our savings for things like this. But then again, we’re not getting any younger so I argue with myself when it comes to things like this.

Theresa, our cleaning gal, is here taking care of business. She always brings us a treat to have with our coffee. House always smells so nice when she leaves.

Had some outdoor things to do but we are getting rain so I’ll put things off again. Probably will watch some of the race today but I’m not into it like I use to be. Like everything else, it’s become to commercialize.
Have a great day…Pappy

A little something I wrote years ago. Kat will recognize it as the little park just down the street from her apartment.
I always looked forward to our trip to downtown Norwich and the best part of the trip was using the elevator in the Chapman bldg. There was always a nice man who would inquire "what floor please" as there were four floors. I would enter the elevator and the operator would close a gate and then pull on some cables, and up we would go. He would not let you off until he had lined up the floor with the car exactly even. I can not remember what floor had what, but I only went for the ride anyway. This was a big deal for a little country boy like me. 1940. A note I wrote to Norwich Sun years ago. A beautiful landmark forever gone.IMG_0513.jpeg

Hard to believe it was such a big building in that little spot. Now it is the little corner park with the fountain. I can sit there for hours just people watching.

Reminds me of the evocative song by Lyle Lovell - "This Old porch" such evocative lines and stories - reminds me of many countryside communities - we still have many in Oz. good caring people who nurture the land and towns - provide their own entertainments and still school the kids in old fashioned country styles - cities ? - I was born in one and would never go back to reside there. Cities are dying smothered in concrete - it's the countryside that nurtures the souls

Well, we are losing our great neighbors next to us. Big Don had a stroke awhile back and needs daily care from his family in PA. They have a beautiful home there so he will be taking care of very well.

Got the all is well clearance from my urologist last week. Bleeding has stopped and that’s a good thing. Takes about 6 weeks to total heal. I’m on my 5th week. Just about finished up on my antibiotics for bladder infection.

Still undecided about electric 3 wheeler or a new mobility scooter for Thelma. She would have to pedal the bike to get it started which is not the best thing since her total knee replacement. Still a bit painful.

Theresa, our cleaning lady is here today. And, we had groceries delivered at 8 am. We will eat in a clean house today. 😁

My tv in the Florida room has bit the dust. I will be sending it to the tv retirement home. It can’t be over 36 inches as the cabinet it fits in is 36 in. Amazon has a lot of them that size so I’ll decide which is best for us. Our 65 inch tv, in the living room, still going strong.

Sold my golf cart yesterday. Too much maintenance for me to keep it going. Folks up the street bought it. He wanted a project to work on and was very happy to get it.

Guess I’ve rambled long enough. Have a good day and stay safe. Pappy
