Notes from Pappy's diary

This covers our lives together perfectly.

She said,

“Don't call the doctor, I want to fall asleep peacefully, with your hand in mine.”

He told her about the past, how they met, their first kiss.

they didn't cry, they smiled.

They didn't regret anything, they were grateful. Then she repeated softly,

'I love you forever!'

He returned her words, gave her a soft kiss on the forehead.

She closed her eyes and fell asleep peacefully with her hand in his.

Love is really all that matters because everyone comes into this world with nothing other than love and leaves with nothing other than love.

Think about it.

Profession, career, bank account, our goods are just tools, nothing more.

Everything stays here.

So just love….

Love those that really love you.

Love, as if there was nothing more important in your life.

Amen.

How time does fly. The older one gets the faster time goes. Thelma and I decided to get Covid shots this year. Going to CVS on the 28th to get them. We weren’t going to do it but changed our mines.

Big garage sale going on next door. Lots of folks stopping and looking. Eileen said she made over $100 yesterday. I’ve had a few over the years but never felt is was worth all the trouble.

The developers that are building condos behind us are putting in sewer pipes and putting in the streets. The huge vibrating roller shakes our homes and is very annoying. Once the foundations are up, the hammering begins. 😒

This might be a good time to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and great New Year. My wife bought me a new ukulele and I gave her a new iPhone 15 pro.

I cleaned out my hall closet yesterday and got rid of so much stuff. We use to play bingo and I found about 15 dabbers to mark the cards with so I took them

up to clubhouse to use for their bingo night.

My youngest son and DIL are coming for a visit on January 25th and stay 5 days. Jeff, my son wants me to make a list of things thay need doing and he will take care of them for me. He may be sorry he asked. I’ve got a lot of things that need attention.

Theresa, our house cleaner, is here so I’ll have to shut up for awhile….Pappy

My goodness, a new year is here and I haven’t posted in quite sometime. For Christmas, I got my wife a forever rose and necklace. She gave me a turntable to play my old 45s and albums on. Some of these records belonged to my grandpa. He loved Al Jolson and there is a couple others he enjoyed. My 45s are mostly 50s music and old country songs. Some are pretty scratchy but these are the ones I played over and over again.

On the 21st of this month, I have to have the TURP procedure done again. 😡 My daughter is coming down on the 20th to give us a helping hand. It’s good she will be here, she’s a nurse, because we have to keep and eye on blood in the urine. First couple days are the worst.

We are having a couple of weeks of cold weather. Happens every year and it shouldn’t last too long. Low 40s at night and high of 60s in the daytime. Expect a heat bill from hell this month as Florida Power and Light keep raising their rates.

Considering our age, we are doing okay. Groceries delivered, bills are paid and we enjoy an occasional meal delivery. Till next time, be safe out there.Pappy

40 degrees this morning. Hey, is this Florida? Then I look at my hometown temp, Norwich, NY, and see it is only 15 degrees..🧐 I’ll be happy with my 40 degrees.

Our neighbor came over this am and we chatted for quite awhile. She is so nice and would do anything for us. I wish she was here year round.

Got my haircut yesterday. My regular guy has moved on so I tried a different guy. I think it will work out okay but its very quiet there as he doesn’t speak much English. That’s good because I never did enjoy chatting while getting a haircut.

Staying home and staying warm today. Friday we have a few ends to tie up so will be a busy day.
Take care and be safe. Pappy

Jan 10th, my wife’s 85 birthday. Took her for coffee and made a quick stop at Publix to get flowers and a scratch off ticket. She won $200 bucks on her ticket. So in about an hour I’m taking her out for a nice supper. If she has stayed with me all these years, she deserves the very best.

My daughter will be down the 20th to help me with my upcoming procedure on the 21st. I hope they get it right this time. Then my son and DIL will be here on the 25th to give me a hand getting rid of so much stuff we have saved over the years.

Happy days to you all. Pappy

Happy Birthday, Thelma! 🎂🥳🎉
Congratulations on your winnings.
It sounds like a birthday month, with all the extra visitors, enjoy!!!

heh pappy just finished watching the film with Jim Carry "The Majestic" - reminded me very much of your town of birth and upbringing - might have been the same era - very wholesome!! and a beautiful cinema too

Pappy do you miss your home town of Norwich much at all??
Probably not so much now as the whole town has changed since the big box stores moved in and put so many great stores out of business.
My memories are when going to town meant spending the day and going into all the different stores and exploring the huge toy sections like, Grants, Chapman-Turner, Neisners, Munky Wards,, etc.
All the factories have left and the two movie house were so inexpensive to spend the day on Saturdays.
I do miss the old homestead, my great grandfather built in 1900, and I was mostly raised there. It was on West Hill and we had woods and farm land all around us.
Yes, this I do miss, smiley.

Am new here, Pappy and Thelma. We are getting cold here in the "retirement" town of Tucson, Arizona, too! We just got one of our average of 5 2-5 freeze nights..nothing lower than 28 here, either.

You two are a lovely couple. How many children did you two raise?
Thelma and my cousin have the same first name!

Happy belated birthday, and New Year!
