Nurse drives Mercedes through red light and kills 6 in explosion/fire filled crash.

WhatInThe

A nurse drove a Mercedes through a red light wound up killing 6 at that intersection. It was estimated she was driving around 100 mph. A mother and child among those killed. They say she just had a fight with her boyfriend. She is an ICU nurse. And has been arrested.

I saw this same story on AOL, and my thought is, why does it matter that she was driving a Mercedes? Would things be different if she was driving a Honda?

My prayers and condolences for the families and close friends of the deceased. May they rest in eternal peace.

The most important part of the story was all those deceased or injured. The reporter mentioned three different types of vehicles in the article; seems like pointless details.

i watch the video was very disturbing .... I like @Buckeye do not see the relevance in make of car .......
or for that matter her profession ....
while reporting these stories "Car crash kills x amount"
might be needed i am finding more and more stories making assumptions or leaving out various facts ... media is much closer to water cooler gossip then news now.

Sensationalism sells. Usually murder and mayhem is enough to draw in readers but a Mercedes G-Class is a guaranteed opener as opposed to a Ford Focus.

The make of the car was probably just part of the information dump when reporting the story... the who, what, where, when, and why. That's what reporters are supposed to do, so I don't have a problem with it. Now, if they would have gone into how Mercedes vehicles are so safe, you can survive a crash involving a collision with several other vehicles and a light pole while traveling at 100 MPH, that would have been bad reporting and in bad taste.

I think the nurses in all these hospitals have pretty much been pushed to their limits with the whole Covid mess. I think they're now losing their s**t off the job and having more issues.
Yeah, having a difficult job is a valid reason to put everyone's life in danger & drive 100 mph on a crowded city street & kill 6 people.
Would you make the same excuse for her if she used an AR 15?

Here's another nurse who drove under the influence of alcohol & ecstasy, hit a pedestrian, & drove home with him embedded in her windshield, bleeding & begging her to call for help. She left the car in her garage, while he died slowly over the next several hours. She was convicted of murder & sentenced to 50 years.
She also had a difficult job. What excuse would you make for her?

Things would be different if she were driving a Honda. Mercedes is a heavy luxury car. They are well built which is why she survived even injured. Physically she would've been done in an 'average' car. But she also might have done less damage. But a heavy car at that speed yikes.

Should add though many would think or assume one in a Mercedes wouldn't have to rush. The driver would have a different demeanor not necessarily true but... Luxury car drivers speed and have accidents. But the thing with luxury cars is that they out weigh the average car so with more weight at a higher speed the average car will suffer the most in an accident.

A Mercedes is what Princess Diana, her driver, & Dodi Fayed.. all died in. Granted Diana wasn't wearing a seatbelt, but the others were, and only the front seat passenger bodyguard lived, but with such serious injuries, he still has no memory of the event to this day.. and they only hit a Wall side on....no other vehicles..

Sounds like vehicular manslaughter to me. Boyfriend problems aren't justification for killing people. I sure hope she had money and/or good insurance to provide at least some compensation to the victims families. Never enough though...

In addition to losing all she has I think she also deserves some jail time.

Her car insurer already wrote her off but they will be issuing blank checks to the survivors and the next of kin for the dead a very long time. IMHO being that this tragic conflagration was clearly avoidable the prosecution will run with that full steam ahead. No six counts of first degree premeditated murder but probably tell her lawyer that if she doesn't accept their one time plea deal of six counts of vehicular homicide they will leak any and every thing that will smear her reputation and let the court of public opinion decide her fate. Too bad she wasn't a self absorbed A-list entertainer driving a fully paid up Mercedes G-Class who hires nurses to change their brats diapers. Shame.

There's never any justification for killing another person. But there are always reasons why it happens.

This dim wit is a temp RN, and she dove a Mercedes????????? I was an RN, and I drove a Hyundai. HUH?????
Since she just had a fight with her boyfriend I have to wonder if it was his.

Rather than buy a house a lot of people are using a large chunk of their credit on a car. An RN making around 100k could swing $500-800 a month car payment or lease. The problem with a high end car the insurance and repair cost would also be higher.

Horrible story. But I don't understand why the fact that she is a nurse is relevant at all. Would be it more or less of a crime if she had some other profession?

update 8/8/2022

"Nurse will face 6 murder charges for Windsor Hills collision

A woman accused of driving through a red light into several vehicles in a busy intersection in Windsor Hills — a horrific crash that killed an infant, a pregnant woman, her unborn fetus and three other people — will face six counts of murder among other charges, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office said Monday, Aug. 8.

Nicole Lorraine Linton, 37, remained in custody in lieu of $9 million bail at the Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood.

She could face 90 years to life in prison if convicted of all charges, The Associated Press reported."

The relevancy is rather obvious. A nurse/doctor is considered to be dedicated to saving lives; not murder.
Similar to a police officer committing a crime.
